Pros: -largest SATA notebook drives before the Fujitsu 250 GB and 300 GB drives come out this summer
-not too slow, fast with perpendicular recording
-large amounts of space with Mac OS X and Vista
Cons: -Toshiba drives are prone to high rate of failure. I hope this item is much better.
-A tad bit hot when it is spinning up for long periods of time.
Pros: Works great in Macbook, and has lots of space.
Cons: The drive in the macbook (80gb) had a tab to make removing the drive a breeze. I was disappointed that small feature was missing from Toshiba.
Overall Review: Price was best around.
Pros: Plug and play into Dell 1501. Quick and easy.
Cons: Multiple True Image restores caused a duplicate partition. It could be any software causing the trouble. I used Partition Commander to delete the duplicate and everything is good.
Overall Review: Slow ? Not in picture. It boots as fast, if not faster than my Samsung 120GB 5400rpm. So far no idea about where “slow” is from, except for the label 4200rpm, maybe for the 2nd half of 200GB if I get there ? Toshiba works !
Pros: tbd
Cons: tbd
Overall Review: Just ordered this drive for my MacbookPro and wanted to dispel any rumours about the drive.
There are 2 reviews here saying the drive is “a little slow”. I find that very hard to believe, and it indicates a misunderstanding of PMR technology. While the spindle speed of the drive *IS* technically slower (4200rpm vs 5400rpm), comparing specs to original 5400rpm drives installed in the macbook/macbookpro computers indicates that this drive should perform virtually identically:
Toshiba 200gb:
4200rpm/8mb buffer/12ms seek time/5.55ms average latency.
Unnamed 5400rpm drive (80gb):
5200rpm/8mb buffer/12ms seek time/5.5ms average latency.
See the similarities? I’d be absolutely SHOCKED if anyone actually noticed a real performance hit due to the slower spindle speed of this disk.
I will update my review once I get a chance to play with it more.
Pros: It works in the Sony Playstation 3! Extremely easy to install. I read the instructions to the T to make sure that I am not creating conditions where I would void the warranty of the PS3.
Cons: None found yet.
Overall Review: I actually want another one because I purchased an external enclosure too. I am too afraid to format the original 60GB PS3 HDD.
Pros: Good product for the money.
Lower power consumption then a higher speed drive.
data buffer helps with larger file transfers
Great capacity for the price
Cons: Semi slow
Overall Review: If you are looking for fast boot up times and low power consumption consider a CF to IDE adapter and use flash memory. Limited storage capacity and higher price for the bigger CF cards but AMAZING boot time and noticeable increase in battery life.
Pros: Largest drive available at purchase time, not that much slower than medium-sized 5400RPM drives. Quiet.
Cons: Died after 4 months of light use.
Overall Review: I don’t blame Toshiba particularly, but it is a nuisance having a nearly new, very lightly used drive just die.

Pros: I replaced my macbook pro’s stock hard drive (80GB) with this one and it’s been great thus far. Doesn’t seem much slower than my original and I LOVE the extra space!
Cons: That it’s not 500GB! 🙂
Overall Review: I had it installed at an Apple-certified local computer retailer (big national computer chain) so that warranty/Apple Care on Macbook Pro wasn’t voided–they did a great job ($100) and I didn’t have to open up my box or ghost the hard drive.
