Pros: Great quality components
Loads of upgrade options (extra CPU, more GPU slots, more ram, more hdd slots)
Case look mean
Cons: Product is a refurbished server
Needs work to be used as a PC
Mismatched ram installed
Hardware dating from 2016
Overall Review: Beware, nowhere in the listing it says that this product is a server, not a PC.
The hardware is designed as such and it behave as such.
I thought I was getting a better deal by buying this rather than building a computer from scratch but I’m not convinced.
When I received my product, it was still configured as a server. During the boot sequence, it was first trying to connect to an external network and when that failed (timed out) it then boot to the installed hard drive, the process was extremely long, we are talking about a 2 min boot time.
After lots of research, and formatting the SSD, I was able to disconnect the ”boot to network” feature in the BIOS and force boot to the installed SSD. The boot sequence was down to about 55 seconds, and no way to bring it down further and still miles (or seconds) from a proper desktop personal computer.
Tbh, I’m a bit disappointed by this computer for that price. If I had known it was a server and what it implies, I don’t think I would have bought it.
I managed to make it work okayish, the performance is okay for a 5 year old PC, I’m not blown away by its speed as I thought I would be. Its not made to be shutdown constantly, so I put it to sleep instead of shutting it down at the end of the day, its annoying but I will live with it.
I use it with Solidworks 2021, because its supposed to be ”certified” for it, and its okayish. I have some issues with it but I think it can be pointed to the software, but that’s an other story.
For that kind of investment, you can find or build a decent PC, no, you might not have all that fancy hardware but you’ll still have a decent PC.
TL;DR : Its a server, not a PC, 2016 hardware, its expensive, might not fulfill your needs
