550VA/340W/120V Battery Backup for PCs, Home Theaters or Digital Signage: This OmniSmart(R) line-interactive UPS system with AVR protection provides reliable battery backup and AC power protection against blackouts, brownouts, overvoltages, surges and line noise that can damage valuable electronics or destroy data. The 120V battery backup is ideal protection for your home office, media center or commerce components, including computers, routers, printers, HDTVs, Blu-ray players, game consoles, ATMs, security systems and digital signage equipment.Allows Time to Back Up Critical Files During a Blackout: Backup support allows you to work through short power failures and gives you enough time to safely save files and shut down your system in case of a prolonged blackout. Backup time varies according to load, but internal battery should keep a half load (170W) powered as long as 10 minutes and a full load (340W) up to 3.6 minutes. During normal operation, incoming utility power keeps the

Pros: I’m in IT and have purchased 50-60 of these units in the last 3 years with no problems. No DOA’s and non have failed yet. I find that 550VA is great for single workstations like Core2Duo with duel 19″ LCD’s.
Cons: None
Overall Review: I like the flat box for ease of use and the plug layouts allow for one Large plug to not take up space from the other plugs. When needed the Batteries can be easily changed by sliding the bottom open to expose the Battery
Pros: Lots of space for big plugs, DSL surge protection noise protection too! Does the job. About the size of a comparable APC
Cons: The software is getting on my nerves. It won’t install becuase it says it is missing the Java software……. but the disc comes WITH the Java installer in case you don’t have it. So I tried the disc, didn’t work. Downloaded the version from CNET/ Downloads.com, still didn’t work. So I can’t run the power management utility that comes with this unit. I bought Tripp Lite because they have great solutions for my company, which I am responsible for upkeeping. I’m a little disappointed in the software side of this.
Overall Review: If you are looking for a UPS, this will do it hands down. But don’t expect the software to run on this. I’m using Win XP Media Center SP3, it’s fully updated as well as the Java software…… clueless as to what I need to make it work.
Pros: 12 outlets. 6 UPS, 6 surge suppression is a great hub for protecting your internet gateway, wifi router.
Overall Review: Should have gotten a UPS years ago. My house or utility circuit it’s on has a strange habit of outages on a nice day. But the outage happens and is restarts everything that doesn’t have a battery backup.
Now my fiber gateway, ISP router, and laptop docking station have the UPS to rely when the outages happen again. Even though I didn’t lose any data and just a Zoom call, it was enough to wish I had gotten a UPS sooner.
Pros: reliable
cost effective
performer
work horse
asset
Cons: too bad it doesn’t come in GREEN
Overall Review: When I purchased this UPS I was a bit skeptical. However after using it for a week I feel like it has performed WELL beyond my expectation. I will not regret my purchase of this device. It has added some security to my needs and im happy for that. Thanks to TRIPP LITE for offering such a great product at a reasonable price!
Pros: I fully trust my system to their UPS, which directly routes to my TripLite surge protector, from which all my sensitive equipment is powered.
Cons: I’ve never had a problem with any TripLite product I’ve used.
Pros: Easy to install on Win Xp Pro Sp3. Did not require tripp lite software, as soon as I plugged in the usb cable (see cons*), the OS installed the device and I was able to use Windows Power Mang. software. Which I like better. Power inputs spaced far enough for those big power bricks.
Cons: I dont understand, if you look at the pictures it shows a USB cable and a USB port. However when I opened up my unit, I did have a USB cable, but it was USB to RJ – 11 (phone cord). Still worked ( so no egg’s off), but just wasn’t expecting that. So now if the cable gets messed up, I will have to go buy a special one. (which I don’t like)
Overall Review: Reason I like the OS software to manage because most of the 3rd party programs I have encountered (APC & Tripp lite), only allow the shutting down of your pc. Most would say, thats all you need, however I like how in Windows, you can Dim the monitor or shut down programs when the battery turns on. (ex running scheduled task). I highly recommend the purchase of UPS’s that can be controlled by Windows. Also the less 3rd party software installed, the better your windows will run.

Pros: I would say the Tripp Lite customer service stepped up and replaced the original two Internet 550U UPS devices that would not turn on straight out of the box, so that was nice.
Cons: Of the two 550Us that I received in replacement for the ones that were DOA, one of them started going bad within a month, shutting off the computer with no warning. At this point I have the computer connected to the surge protection side but I have lost complete confidence in this model of Tripp Lite UPS.
Overall Review: Not sure what is happening with Tripp Lite, but their stuff used to be pretty good for the price point-I presently use a Tripp Lite KVM, Console, and other UPS devices, but am probably done with this companies products after so many failures in a row.

Pros: Great price, Doesnt hold charge for more than 10 minutes but thats more than enough time to have software shut system down.
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: Software does what its supposed to do, detect battery power and shut system down accordingly. I cant figure out why the guy below had so many problems, maybe he needs to take a course in how to plug things in.
