Pros: What a wonderful UPS. I purchased two of these to provide redundant power supply to my servers. The quality of this unit rivals that of the other big companies but at a fraction of the cost. The cover over the power button is great to prevent accidental shut down.
The LCD screen provide great, instant feedback on the unit without having to log onto a computer.
Setup was easy once you got the rails in place. Connected the external battery and off I went. Very simple and a rock solid product.
Cons: CyberPower does not supply cage clips or screws to mount to the rack.
Overall Review: Put a couple of these in the bottom of you rack and it will never fall over. They are very heavy.
30amp, 120volt twist lock plug – really – just look at the pictures
Pros: Features are fairly obvious from the description but things you might miss while casually browsing things in this price range:
-Real sinewave for all the nice high efficiency/active PFC PSUs.
-Upgrade slot for network management card
-Coax for HTPC tuner protection
Cons: Heavy as heck and very dense (mind your back) but unavoidable with SLA batteries and power transformers.
Overall Review: Biggest UPS you can power from a standard wall outlet.
I was considering running a 120V 20A or possibly 240V industrial outlet to the computer room, but I found out the opposite walls are on different circuits and dodged that bullet.
Pros: -Can safely put out 950W of power for up to 5 min (Safety FACTOR)
-It will tell you load, voltage, and a considerable number of other parameters.
-It will run my computer for 50 min at a (200 Watt load) on a full charge. (This will decrease to 18 min or so @ 500 Watts load)
-It is very power efficient. It uses only about 50 more watts than what it says the load on it is when the battery is charging.
-It puts out a nice line voltage 60Hz Sine wave than it more or less RFI filtered.
Cons: – It is VERY heavy as it has FOUR!! batteries in it rather than one like in the little home office ones.
-Battery replacement cost can be kind of high
-The LCD is difficult to rotate because it is attached with a short ribbon cable. You have to be very careful or you will break it! (If CyberPower added about another 0.25″-to 0.5 to that cable it would be okay)
Overall Review: If you have the cake, go for this UPS.
It came with a bend/dent in the case. It works so I am not sending it back. @ 70+ lbs this thing would cost a fortune to send back to Newegg or CyberPower.
+Cool blue LCD and power button in a sleek black case that doesn’t look too bad.
Pros: Great specs, solid build, a lot of capacity
Cons: Just as TechSmurf stated, from time to time, the unit simply stops supplying power to everything that is plugged into it. It remains on, without any alarms, yet everything plugged in is dead. Turning it off and then back on fixes the issue. But… what the hell did I buy such a pricey UPS for? A 3 sec power spike and instead of all of my equipment rebooting (if I had no UPS at all), it just stays DEAD until I am able to get back home and reset the UPS?!!!
Overall Review: Given my experience, would not recommend this unit to anyone, even for free.
Pros: Large capacity, nice LCD display, battery expansion port, 1hr runtime at 1400w/70% load with 2 extra packs attached.
Cons: During some short utility power dips, the UPS transfers from line power to “no power” rather than battery, and remains in a no-power state after utility power resumes. UPS is still on, and LCD display happily states is is supplying zero volts. UPS does not resume supplying power until it is manually switched off/on. Cyberpower performed advance replacement of unit under warranty, and replacement unit exhibits same problem. As far as support can figure, the start-up load our facility generates in outages of under 3 seconds makes the power too dirty for their fragile little UPS. Support cannot come up with any reason for the symptoms and all they offer now is a refund.
Cannot say this equipment is suitable for any mission critical applications, as no UPS should be the cause of power interruption.
Overall Review: *DISCLAIMER: I am not an electrical engineer, just a customer who expects high end hardware to perform its most basic functions even in less-than-ideal environments.
Pros: Large capacity
High wattage
Voltage regulation
Expandability
Multiple mounting options
NEMA 5-15 plug
120V operation
Cons: Awkward size
Software issues
Lack of software documentation
Limited documentation in general
Noisy fan when it is being used
Overall Review: This was one of the only units with the horsepower I needed to go with my large power supply. When I first purchased it, I had issues. Come to find out there was not a problem with the unit, but with the software. I RMA’d the initial product, as it was shutting down and made my system unusable. This was verified and a new one was sent, thanks Newegg. It is now working fine. The original issue was the software. I made some adjustments to the various software controls and this really impacted the performance. This product really needs better documentation on its software, as it is not intuitive nor is understandable as to what each items actually does within the settings. The second time I installed the software, I left the factory settings the same and things are working fine now. It has the wattage necessary for demanding set-ups that need high wattage and the features are very nice. Most UPS systems that can handle 1500W are single circuit NEMA 10-20, which does not fit into a normal household receptacle. They normally require a dedicated circuit and a special plug. This one also requires that there is virtually nothing else on the circuit it is tied to, but it does have a plug which will fit into a normal household receptacle. Overall I am happy, although I really need to understand the software better, as this is the reason behind the one egg drop, otherwise it is a five egg product. It has great options, but I would like some sort of widget or way to monitor various aspects like the lower wattage units I have currently on other rigs. The fan runs randomly at high and noisy levels, as that would also be nice to have some controllability with the software. I have purchased many CyberPower products and have been very happy. I have also purchased an additional battery pack to give me additional power since this rig has such a high draw. I would recommend this for high-end set-ups. I always use a UPS with any of my computer set-up, I consider this a requirement when building a high-end rig. The investment in these rigs is too high to have normal unconditioned power and to not have even a small amount of time to close out of things, then shut the system down normally when there is a power outage. These are exceptional, especially during times of brown-outs or. when the incoming voltage could spike and damage sensitive computer equipment.
Pros: – Impressive specs
– Good software
– 4 batteries
– Sufficient outlets
Cons: – If the battery ever depletes (like in a long outage) it never comes back. I have 3 duds sitting here plugged in to prove it.
Overall Review: One weekend our building told us our local electric company is doing maintenance and we should shut everything down and unplug. Note the batteries were full at the time and no load since all servers shut down. We did so, shut down servers and unplugged the 3 large CyberPower units. Came back on Sunday morning, plugged everything back and… one Cyberpower came back but only in battery mode, as if it was not plugged in (yes, we checked outlets, fuses, little breakers on the back, etc, etc, etc…), but the other two never clicked, never beeped, never did anything, they went from happy to dead in 24 hours. Have been keeping them plugged in for the past 6 months and they are dead to the world. Not a click, not a bleep, nothing. The one that came back is acting erratic and I don’t trust it anymore. I am now running my servers on ancient (cca 2008) APC units (ugly, white, grimy and with no displays – but still kicking) since my bosses can’t fathom that I spent thousands on these bricks that just sit there, dead. Cyberpower units look nice and everyone loves them for their low price and their fancy blue displays, but in case of an emergency, these things are frustrating and if you are an IT professional, they can cost you your job or even your life via a heart attack. We buy these things for peace of mind. I got no peace and my mind is boggled. These are designed not to come back up (ever, unless you really believe 6 months of charging is not enough time) if the battery drops to a certain level so if your outage is longer than a few hours, you’re toast. I can’t even blame it on a bad batch since I bought them all separate. Whoever designed this should be fired or put into jail. Why 3 eggs then? Well, sounds like others are happy with these, don’t want to ruin their happiness.

Pros: Business class UPS system with great monitoring faceplate, good software and all the things you expect in a much more expensive model. I have this racked up in a 42u rack with 3 2u’s connected to this and they are running great.
We have had several brownouts lately in my area and none of my servers have so much as hiccuped now that I have this in place.
Cons: No instructions for rail kit. I was able to figure it out but that would have been nice to have.
Overall Review: Unlike others who didn’t read the product description, I knew I was going to need a 30a plug to run this thing. I called an electrician and had them put a 30a plug in (cost me $130). This was a completely painless process and I was able to plug the unit right up to it.
This thing is HEAVY. Like extremely heavy.
