The Western Digital Scorpio 120GB hard drive delivers best-in-class performance with lower power needs when compared to other notebook drives. In You’ll get the quietest 2.5-inch drive on the market with real-time data protection technology to care for your records, games and pictures. This compact drive, with an 8MB cache buffer, rotates at a speed of 5400 RPM, but with a power curve of a 4200RPM drive. Its average seek time is only 12ms and average latency is 5.5ms.
Despite a remarkable data transfer rate of up to 100MB/sec, WD’s WhisperDrive makes the drive almost silent. The most common hard drive failure is due to shocks: ShockGuard protects the drive against damage from bumps and vibrations, and the stainless steel casing completes the protection, keeping it safe up to 250Gs while working, and 900Gs idle. Its SoftSeek technology offers smooth operation of read/write seek function, reducing seek noise, while the DuraStep Ramp technology locks the heads in a secured position, even when power is off.
