Pros: Great upgrade for my Jtag 360. Definitely going to take some time filling it up. So far no problems and don’t see any coming soon. Runs great and a great upgrade for a console that needs plenty of storage space. Western Digital does a great job with their products. Definitely would buy another if needed
Cons: N/A
Pros: I purchased five of these refurbished drives to fill my Synology DS411Slim NAS. (4-bay + 1 cold spare)
I was hesitant about purchasing used drives, but couldn’t be more happy with them now.
Cons: None
Pros: I do not know the pros are, because it is DOA and could not format.
Cons: DOA and could not format. The next day I could not see the icon.
Pros: ran continuously for 5 hours cloning asus laptop hard drive, using WD acronis clone software, booted from CD. used usb-sata adapter.
Cons: none
Pros: I ordered this drive for one reason my ps3! I had in there before a 500gb but after all my games I only had like 147gb left so I ordered this installed it. Did a transfer utility with an ethernet cable because I have movies bought from the playstation store and it’s the only way around the drm once everything copied which took all night with the amount of data I had. I still have 589gb left. Runs cool and to me seems faster then the stock 500gb drive I had before if you want lots of space this drive is the one for you.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Didn’t give me any games.

Pros: Of the four drives that did work, they seem to run just fine. Nice and cool, quiet and with decent performance. Not super fast but they do have nice storage capacity for their physical size.
Cons: Not all drives are the same; when you received them, go register them and find out if they are still under warranty. The last two digits of the product code may vary from drive to drive. Take a close look and let us all know what variant of a WD10JPVT you have.
Four of the eight drives I purchased would not work–indicated an overheat condition even though SMART reported them running at 28C.
I opened a case with WDC that is still pending–not looking like they will provide any support thus far. No firmware updates and they don’t seem too keen on replacing them. Their initial answer was that you can’t use them in a server and that only the Red drives were supported in that environment. I have asked them about an exchange, but so far no answer.
Overall Review: Purchased 8 of them to test in a HP Proliant DL380 G6 server from another supplier. Of the 8, there were three different product numbers ending in -00, -22 and -75. All of the -75 drives indicated an Overheat condition with the 410i controller. Two of the other drives indicated they were no longer under warranty when registering them with WDC.
This was just a simple proof of concept to determine if consumer grade drives could be used in an enterprise server. As it looks now, it is still possible, but you will have to take your chances using these drives.
Hopefully this little write-up will help someone trying the same thing and save them some money. That’s about all I can do from this side of the fence.
