SATA 1.5 Gb/s InterfaceThe next-generation SATA interface supports up to 1.5 Gb/s data transfer rates and point-to-point connections to allow the Western Digital Scorpio WD1600BEVS to deliver optimum performance, efficiency, convenience and flexibility.
WD WhisperDrive and SoftSeek TechnologyWhisperDrive technology minimizes noise to virtually below the threshold of human hearing. To cut seek noise, SoftSeek technology streamlines read/write seeking algorithms resulting in more efficient operation.
WD ShockGuard TechnologyShockGuard technology instantaneously protects the hard drive against damage from bumps and vibrations during operation. This technology enables WD Digital Scorpio drives to achieve industry-leading shock specifications.| Brand | Western Digital |

| Features | Quiet – In a notebook drive, silence is golden. WD’s exclusive WhisperDrive combines state-of-the-art seeking algorithms to yield one of the quietest 2.5-inch hard drives on the market. These algorithms also optimize the way a drive seeks for data, which significantly improves power consumption. So now silence (and longer battery life) is golden. Reliable and rugged – WD’s ShockGuard technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks. WD’s SecurePark parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down, and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface resulting in improved long-term reliability due to less head wear, and improved non-operational shock tolerance. |

Pros: Cheap, runs smooth, fast and as cool as my main drive.
Cons: I just hope this drive does not die on me at some random moment.
Overall Review: I upgraded the ram and hard drive on my Inspiron 1720, and for those of you who want to add in the second hard drive, its an Serial ATA drive and you will need to purchase proprietary parts from dell for the drive to fit. The part numbers are XK231 and C7586 which are the 22pin connectors and the cradle for the drive. Be sure to ask for screws as they do not come with any.
Pros: Works great. Easy to install in the PS3.
Cons: After formatting on the PS3 only 130GB of usable space. This will happen to any drive.
Overall Review: I used this for me PS3 to upgrade from a 40GB HDD. The formatting system that the PS3 uses, eats up a lot of space. This 160GB HDD only yielded about 130GB after formatting. If you are considering this as a PS3 upgrade, I would get a Western Digital with more space.
Pros: Three years and still running. Simple install, worked first time.
Cons: None. Wish I went bigger lol.
Overall Review: Would definitely buy WD HDD again.
Pros: Have used this drive for about 18 months with flawless results. While I can’t attest to its low power consumption giving longer battery life, I can honestly say it had no negative effect. It is quiet and most important, RELIABLE.
Cons: Price is much lower now than when I purchased it from Newegg. OK, not really a con.
Overall Review: If all you need is 160GB and are upgrading an older laptop with a pitifully small hard drive, like mine, this is definitely an excellent choice, especially at today’s price.
Pros: After 3 years, the drive has performed very well with no problems.
Cons: None
Pros: this is the same model as the old one on my laptop
Cons: the old 80G hardrive on my laptop worked 3 years. crashed in the middle but survived until now except it starts to make noise. checkdisk show 4kb sector. so order this one to replace. I installed it right after it arrives. however, after installation, it makes noise too. checkdisk shows 8kb bad sector on this 160G. is this a prank? disappointing.
Overall Review: I don’t know if we could find a way to avoid such dead on arrival situation.
Pros: Worked out of the box directly, forfamed and installed. No complaints at this time.
Cons: A tad on the slow side but as expected with a 5400 rpm hard drive

Pros: Drive performs excellently! I upgraded from a 100GB 7200RPM drive, and was worried about the speed loss with this 5400RPM drive. I hooked both drives up as storage drives on a desktop (SATA jacks are the same) and tested both drives with HD Tach. I was very impressed. This 160GB drive averaged 38MB/s throughput vs 41MB/s for the 7200RPM. Personally, the 60GB extra was worth the slight loss in speed (which is not noticeable at all). In addition, the burst speed was higher with the 160GB drive (121MB/s vs 109MB/s). I believe the main reason for this drive’s performance is it’s perpendicular recording method.
Cons: None! (Well, 320GB would be nicer…)
Overall Review: This drive is QUIET! Much more so than my last 100GB 7200RPM Hitachi.
