Pros: Cool, quiet, no vibration. Decent size for the price.
Cons: None that I can see thus far.
Overall Review: Works great in my 15″ 2010 Macbook Pro. For those complaining about usage in a Mac notebook, if you’re using one of the models with a Core 2 Duo proc, with the nVidia chipset, there’s your problem. You need to be extremely picky with what drives you buy, as the nVidia chipsets seem to frequently hang when linked to a HD with any sort of sudden motion sensor/shock protection. This isn’t an exclusive problem with Apple laptops, as I’ve had issues with this on several PC laptops in the past. Now you know.
Pros: I recently purchased five of these drives to help replace laptop drives for a non-profit. My third, fourth and fifth drive were dead. I paid $12 to return them to Western Digital and received three “Recertified” drives later. The three “Recertified” drives I received we’re DEAD.
Cons: I’m out at least $160 and now have to waste more time and money returning a SECOND set of THREE dead drives. I cannot express how frustrating this is.
Overall Review: I buy several hundred drives a year and I’m not stupid. I expect a certain amount of Dead on Arrival parts a year but to have three out of a batch of five come in DEAD and then to have to deal with three DEAD replacement drives is INSULTING.
Pros: Half a Terabyte, I can run Win7 plus 3 other of my favorite linux distros and still have ample room for storage. 4k sector manual partition went without a hitch. No noticeable speed loss compared to the WD Scorpio Black HD. Runs a tad cooler than Scorpio. Very economically priced.
Cons: Still runs too hot.
Overall Review: Installed in my laptop Vostro 3300(dell). My first 4k sector alignment HD, not a bad indeed.
Pros: A must for any ps3 owner who’s looking to upgrade there hard drive. Smooth, quiet, games load faster. Just perfect!
Cons: None
Overall Review: Awesome just awesome!!!
Pros: Fast, quiet.
Cons: None yet
Overall Review: This is in my wife’s cheap Acer notebook. It seemed quick, and it has a WEI of 7.2 for some reason? Most drives I see only get 5.9 so I’m wondering why this is so fast. I even re-ran WEI and its the same.
Pros: Price for size.
Cons: None yet.
Overall Review: This is the 2nd one of these drives that I’ve used for upgrading PS3’s and theres been no issues at all.
As a side note, a lot of people seem to recommend using 5400 RPM drives because they run cooler and won’t overheat your PS3. I’ve been using a 7200 RPM Hitachi and have never encountered any overheating issues from it.
Pros: I bought this to upgrade my PS3’s HDD from 40gb to this. Once installed, it worked flawlessly. I also can’t complain about the price ($50 total). I’m very pleased with this purchase. I might buy one of these for my laptop, too.
Cons: None.

Pros: Do yourself a favor and stay away from WD Advanced Format, including the black such as WD5000BPKT that had the same issue described in “Other thoughts” below.
Cons: failed after one month of light use because WD lied about the geometry reporting Normal Format for an Adcanced Format drive. WD seeking to make the AF transition at consumer expense, making it as if it is a transparent migration by forcing a Normal Format on AF drive. Drive will be working hard to seek data when writing to sector because WD lied and forcing a Normal Format that will fool the OS when seeking to this drive. See other thoughts what this mean.

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdh1,

dmesg | tail or so
WD should be charged to compensate consumer for such intentional lies.
WD, THE END CONSUMER IS NOT A BETA TESTER. AND IF YOU INSIST ON FORCING NORMAL FORMAT ON ADVANCED FORMAT, THEN YOU SHOULD LABEL THE DRIVE:
“FAULTY DRIVE GEOMETRY FOR MY BETA TESTER” and YOU SHOULD PAY YOUR CONSUMER FOR TESTING IT, NOT VICE VERSA.
garbage
