Pros: It’s 500GB. I easily cloned my original to this without any problems. It’s quiet. For under $90 and free shipping Newegg is the best! I’ve been using it for 1 month without any problems so I hope it lasts. It comes with a warranty for 3yrs
Cons: NONE. It would have been cool if it was 7200rpm.
Overall Review: I got this Toshiba HD to replace the 250GB that came with my Gateway. I have a lot of music and I take a lot of pictures/videos with my panasonic 10MP Lumix FZ50 digital camera. I was quickly filling up my stock HD. This 500GB gives me plenty of room to store stuff until I can work on them and save on my back-up external.
Pros: Good drive. Nice and quiet with alot to store your files.
Cons: So far so good…nothing to complain about.
Overall Review: I bought this to replace my 120GB Toshiba HDD that is running out of room so quick. With all this extra storage, I really don’t worry about running out of room for my files anymore. This is aplenty and I’m pretty satisfied.
Pros: Price (when on sale & no shipping cost)

Overall Review: So far a very good purchase & I’m really happy. This replaces a smaller 80 GB secondary HD in my HP dv9000 laptop & so greatly increases my overall storage to 620 GB’s from 200. My research seemed to indicate that it’s a pretty reliable brand for HD’s along with Hitatchi & I have had both before with no problems in years of use. I’d rather pay a bit more for a Toshiba or Hitachi than Seagate or WD or Maxtor, though I’ve not had problems with these drives either in 3.5″ sizes, but mainly due to the hassle of returning a problem drive, which these seem to have a bit more often according to the many reviews that I read here.
Pros: no issues installing it in an HP dv6000 (dv6110us)
Cons: none
Overall Review: get one
Pros: Easy install (no more than a 15 minutes – tops, but you do need the proper tools)! Works out of the box! As soon as I had the laptop back together I was loading the OS. Flawless install, and smooth update of all drivers (including the MB and chipset drivers).
Cons: Too soon to know, but I do like the Toshiba laptops, so am expecting none.
Overall Review: Shipping took only a day and a half – EXCELLENT job, NewEgg!
The laptop was my son’s Gateway M-6866. Not my favorite, but it was easy to work on from a technician’s view. The only reason for the HDD replacement was that he sat on the machine. The HDD was the only casualty of the ordeal.
Pros: I Installed this in my wifes HP Dv6000x notebook computer it works great went from a 80gb to 500gb. Installation took a mater of mins.
Cons: None really, just had to take time reinstalling the OP system, and all her other programs, but that was expected.
Pros: Stable, quiet, and NOT slow, and fits into notebooks with 2 bays to make a nice machine; also, price, above average speed, and compatibility. Very Cool
Cons: Not as fast as the Samsung, but close, no other cons
Overall Review: Super Hard Drive for the Money.
Above average to excellent performance for gig/dollar ratio.
I have been using all 4 majors, Samsung is the leader in the 5400rpm…67 to 72 mb/sec in a notebook under use, not just benchmarked; whereas this Toshiba will do 55 to 60 mb/sec.
WD and Seagate are in between, and run hotter, use more amps.
I have been installing 2 of these with the cluster size @ 4kb, 8kb, and 16kb…into Toshibas, Acers, and HP DV series with 2 bays. Only the HP do you need the cage and adapter.
The Toshibas and Acers work the best…Dual boot OS of Win Vista x64 and Win7 x64 on 1 partioned primary…and even at 250 mb out to 500, that partion will still put out 38 to 40 mb/sec…normal what oem 320 gig notebook hard drives.
16kb clusters brought the most speed.
Clones 32 and 64 bit with Paragon GmbH in no time.
Have several of these in 24/7 use as servers.
No problems.

Pros: Runs a touch cooler than the WD160 and WD500 drive. Not very expensive.
Cons: None so far, might be a touch slower than a WD 500GB drive but not by much.
Overall Review: Works fine so far, hopefully it’ll be durable.
