MK2023GAS Hard Drive offers the industries highest areal density per platter, at 39.1gigabits per square inch. This new drive offers enough capacity for portable video recording and editing, with lower power consumption compared to the traditional 3.5-inch HDDs. This functionality provides ideal storage for a range of commercial and consumer notebooks, as well as non-PC applications such as PDAs, printers, copiers, GPS systems and MP3 players.

Comments: This replaced a 5 gb drive in an old Compaq and made it actually useful again. Installation was quite easy and it loaded XP Pro without a glitch. The price has crept up a bit since I got mine, but it’s still very reasonable. For a hoot, I bought a BYTECC HD-201U2 external USB case for the old 5 gb drive and it’s a wonderul way to get a very compact, portable drive to share files.
Comments: Put this in my ancient xxxxxxxxxxx (I know, I know). Paritioned and formatted, then loaded W2K with no issues. Gets one star off for being a bit on the noisy side compared to the IBM Travelstar it replaced but otherwise, no worries with this drive.
New Egg is the absolute best place to buy computer stuff, as I’m sure my Visa bill could tell you 🙂

Comments: I work as an IT Technician for a college that gives out about 650 laptops with this hard drive in it. About half of those computers hard drives have failed and died. All with this hard drive. Don’t take a 50% chance on one of these. We’ve seen IBM and Hitachi Travelstar’s that are better.
