Pros: 7200 RPM Notebook drive. Unit replaced a defective drive and increased the boot times of the laptop.
Vista Experience score 5.9.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Very cost effective way to repair a laptop. Would easily purchase again.

Cons: First drive had sector errors when I tried to clone a customer’s drive to it. Spinrite detected a whole bunch of problems. RMA’d it and ran Spinrite level 4 on the replacement before putting it on the shelf and the numbers were even worse than the first drive. 54 MILLION ECC events, 2 million seek errors. That’s the kind of numbers I’d expect from an old worn drive, not a new one.
Overall Review: Seagate rarely disappoints me, but this is either a bad drive design or else Newegg got a hold of a bad batch of drives.

Overall Review: replaced my boss’s laptop hd with this and noticed a small increase in performance (due to most laptops being 5200 rpm). currently running ubuntu perfectly and stable.
Pros: Works great so far poped it into my ps3 with no problems

Pros: I originally bought this drive in June 2009 to upgrade my 80 GB hard drive. There’s plenty of space and it was easy to copy my files on to this one using some imaging software.
Cons: The first drive I got was making some noise as soon as I put it in. Newegg replaced it for me and I again put all my files on it, slapped it in my laptop and haven’t had any major problems since July 2009. It occasionally makes an audible beep but has passed all the Seatools tests. Today it started clicking after it beeped and I right away shut down my computer. After starting it again everything ran fine and the clicking disappeared. If I still had the warranty on this I think I would go to a different drive.

Pros: Ultra Quirt and Super Fast with low heat.
Cons: first one shipped was defective but newegg replaced asap.

Pros: Have used this one drive for Win 7 installation on both HP NC6400 (2GHz Core 2) lap and the Acer Revo (dual core Atom) with noticeable increase in responsiveness and fluidity. Performance improvement on HP seemed to be a little better and no more than 5% impact on battery life of HP.
Cons: Can get very hot when doing multiple directory copies concurrently (all other times – cool running). Much more vibration than any other 2.5 drive I have used. It will rattle a bit when running on wooden table top.
Overall Review: I would send back for replacement but live in Malaysia. Hopefully the vibration will not be detrimental to life of drive. Vibration not felt in the heavy laptop but does shake the chassis of the Revo creating the slightest buzz.
If you are having clicking hot problems with Seagate drives – update your motherboards SATA and USB hardware drivers, I think you will find that your problem will be resolved.
