Pros: Easy to install on PS3. Nice price for such high storage capacity. !st time buyer from Newegg and very impressed with shipping speed, pkg came nicely wrapped.
Cons: I have nothing bad to say about this product.
Pros: Upgraded my Macbook Pro from a Samsung 500GB 5400 RPM drive. Seagate drive is bigger, faster, and lower power than the Samsung. The drive delivers on it’s specs and performance ratings on Toms Hardware.
Cons: None to date.
Overall Review: I originally supposed the performance bump came from a larger cache, but rechecking the specs showed both drives have 8 MB caches. So it’s the higher density tracks are what are driving the performance boost.
Pros: capacity, very quiet, no vibrations
Cons: boot time
Overall Review: put this in my mid-2009 13″ MBP. boot time is considerably longer than the stock 320gb (also 5400 rpm) which kinda sucks. it’s so long I thought I did something wrong installing the drive when I booted for the first time, but other than that, once it’s booted it’s good to go. wish the boot time was quicker but no complaints otherwise
Pros: High capacity for the price
Quite operation
No vibration
Ho heating problem
Cons: Had a booting problem with macbook pro 13″ Spring 2010 model w/ Snow Leopard. Had to reinstall OS X twice and got the same problem – wheel stuck on the gray screen during boot process. RMA for full refund. Newegg very understandable! Tried Western Digital and everything works great!!!
Pros: Good response time
Cons: Crashed after less than a year and a half of use. This happened about a month after upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10. Not sure if that was a factor.
Overall Review: Only 3 stars due to short lifespan.
Pros: Fast and cheap
Cons: I have a heating problem. This thing is sitting at 45* C idle. It’s installed in a netbox with the cover removed.
Overall Review: My ion gpu is idel at 42 and the atom 330 @ 37. I kept getting lock-ups and restarts. After fiddling with the heat sink I added the HD monitor and found the real problem. If it gets up to 48* C it will stop I/O. I’m really surprised about this. I don’t konw if it’s the fault of the drive or the way I have it monted. I’m waiting for Seagate to get back to me. I’m thinking I should have gone with a small 1 platter drive instead.
Pros: Large and fast for 2.5″ form factor. Got a nice discount which put this right at $50.
Quieter than my fan.
Cons: Only owned it 1 day. I’ll have to get back to you guys on this.
Overall Review: Disk Utility benchmark in Ubuntu reports:
min read/write 41.8/42.1 MB/s
max read/write 88.5/117.5 MB/s
avg read/write 70.3/86.9 MB/s
avg access time 17.8 ms
It also reports the RPM at 5799. This might be the last track or perhaps I got the turbo version by mistake.

Pros: Huge Useless Storage
Cons: I bought a pair back in 2010 on sale to use later in a laptop. I have recently opened the box to upgrade my laptop and the hard drives don’t work. It says that windows can’t format the drive and eventually the drive turns off. Now I checked the RMA and I’m 20 days past warranty. Faack Seagate for their junk. Totaly dissapointed in this junk.
Overall Review: Don’t ever buy from seagate. Their hardware is unreliable and only 3 years RMA. They don’t believe their own work and only offer 3 years RMA. I hate the fact that I have chosen them over a different manufacturer. Will never ever buy again from them and hope people would take caution when purchasing their drives.
