Pros: Good price, good performance, plenty of space for most notebooks, runs cool and reliable.
Cons: None really.
Overall Review: These are great upgrades for slightly older laptops that came with 40, 60 or 80GB SATA drives.
I’ve had a few of these fail on my job as a PC support technician, but it was always due to user abuse.
While not up to the standards of high-performance gaming notebook users, these are great replacement/upgrade drives for everyday use in standard laptops.
Pros: Very quiet, runs cool, is very low power and has nice performance. Overall, a great little disc drive.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: This one shipped with the 1.5 GB/Sec jumper removed (3.0 GB/Sec mode). Older 1/5 GB/Sec SATA controllers may not recognize the drive without the jumper installed.
Pros: Good drive and great price. Use it immediately and worked fast and, best of all, reliably.
Cons: none so far
Overall Review: Should have used a higher capacity like a 250Gb or 320Gb but was doing this for a friend and he wanted an identical drive to the one he burnt out.
Pros: Had no problem installing in an older Laptop, a Compaq Presario V6105. This hard dsk drive just worked like it was supposed to and there has been no hiccups with the drive.
Cons: Had to partition, format and install Windows, but that is true anytime a new hard disk drive is installed as the primary drive.
Overall Review: Second time customer has dropped his laptop ruining the hard disk drive.
Pros: What can I say… It’s a hard drive. It still hasn’t died, and I haven’t had any issues with it. Not the fastest, but I just needed extra capacity in my laptop. It does seem pretty quiet, though, which is nice.
Cons: none
Pros: Good drive, cool and quiet.

Overall Review: I have had good luck with Seagate drives for the last ten years.
Pros: Haven’t had trouble for over a year of use.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Threw it in an old laptop, installed a fresh copy of Windows and haven’t had any problems for over a year of continuous use.

Pros: Drive worked great with HDTune measured read speeds @ 60MB/s max. Quiet when being accessed.
Cons: Quite noisy head parking access (like a paintbrush over a tabletop “swish-swish”) every 3-5 seconds on XP dv1700 notebook at idle, which was easily heard above background sounds in quiet room; wasn’t there on original hard drive I put back in to compare. Disabled drive indexing but sound remained. Symptom occurred only at system idle, and corresponded with drive access for 1/2 sec (at 5 sec intervals).
Seagate notes a new power management system in the .6 series, so this noise could be a consequence of that. However, it wasn’t clear whether this was due to improper construction of my particular drive or a new .6 design “feature” from power management or something else. Sent for RMA.
