Pros: *Great price with emailed discount code
*8 times the capacity of what it replaced
*Much quieter than what it replaced
*Operates far cooler than what it replaced
Cons: None
Overall Review: Even though the label now includes both Samsung and Seagate names, officiating Seagate’s acquisition of Samsung’s HDD operations, this drive is every bit as quiet and cool as the many Samsung drives I’ve had running in my desktop machines for several years.
The Toshiba 80GB drive in my laptop runs extraordinarily hot, even for cramped and poorly-ventilated laptop conditions, while this Samsung drive runs at temperatures on average of around 15° C cooler as reported by sensor monitors. It’s a relief to have not only far more HDD capacity, but the added benefit of significantly cooler operating temperatures, as well.
Pros: Great Price! Good Specs! Great Capacity!
Cons: Not really a con for the money, but only 2yr warranty and 5400 rpm.
Overall Review: Replaced the old Toshiba half gig on my Toshiba a505-s6980 and it works like a champ. Dual booting Win7 64 and Mint 13 with no issues. Fast and quiet. If I were told this were a 7200rpm I’d believe it.
Pros: It works perfectly. Formatted easily and disk scan showed no errors or problems.
Cons: Would be nice if it was 7200RPM
Overall Review: I kind of jumped the gun on this drive. I saw the capacity and the price and bought it. I didn’t realize that it was a 2.5″ drive and only 5400RPM. My fault there. I bought it for a build for my g/f but didn’t want to use it for a main drive so I swapped it out with my external 500GB.
Pros: It worked for about a year.
Cons: The hard drive failed within 2 years. Couldn’t figure out why Windows wouldn’t boot and replace laptop. I came back to attempt to recover some files a year later, found out that the hard drive was at fault. Very disappointed.
Pros: Large capacity and great price, working great and of course came really fast from Newegg
Cons: None at this time
Pros: Great HDD Already order 2 more for other systems.
Cons: N/A
Pros: Great drive, lots of room, and cheap. Gets a 5.9 on WEI as well.
Cons: None
