Pros: Quiet as a mouse, more quiet than the original 60GB!
Easy Install! Slapped it in and it worked! No need to format, no weird screens, nothing, you put it in it works, simple.
Copies things faster than original HD! I really can’t believe this but it does! I copy data at about 2-3 times faster. Install and download times are exactly the same, maybe Sony could patch this stuff to make it go faster, seems they should.
Tons O’ space.
Cons: Didn’t ship in a box, shipped in bubblewrap but was factory sealed in the original static bag, kinda weird, guess they do this to save on cost which is why you can get this for $99 I suppose.
Like all harddrives you end up with less storage than is advertised. After PS3 is full installed and ready to go you will have 413GB os useable space, still a ton.
Overall Review: I’ve read other posts where people said this drive was loud. I haven’t experienced this at all, it’s SOOO quiet.
It also runs at exactly the same temperature as the original factory HD.
Pros: Great size and performance. Bought this to upgrade to the original 60GB drive in my PS3 – couldn’t have been easier! Pulled the old drive out, put the new one in – quick format – and the drive is running great.
Cons: None!
Overall Review: Just an note for those using this as a PS3 upgrade – don’t be alarmed if you don’t get the entire 500GB after formatting – the PS3 only recognizes 465GB on this drive, then uses another ~52GB for OS and System files. This is still an outstanding deal for what you get.
Pros: Extremely quiet
Fully compatible with all PS3 models
Tons of space
Cons: None!
Overall Review: Install to the PS3 was a breeze. Many may say it is unnecessary, but I would recommend performing a full format after installing to the PS3 for added stability.
Note that your PS3 (at least mine did) may require you to insert the latest firmware when you initially boot up with the new drive. I simply downloaded the latest firmware from the Playstation home page and popped it on a USB stick. You can also burn it to a disc. This is something I did not see in any of the online tutorials.
This drive is FANTASTIC. Works flawlessly with the PS3 and provides more space than any model currently available. Forget 160GB, grab yourself a core PS3 and this drive! Same amount of money for a WHOLE lot more. Highly recommended!
Pros: Runs very quick, and extremely quiet. And who can complain about 500GBin a ps3? Been workin like a charm since I got it, no troubles what so ever.
Cons: Maybe runs a little warmer than the drive that came with my ps3 (60GB), but not much if any.
Overall Review: Wish Sony had made the partitioning options for the ps3 a little more flexible, could be most efficient with the drive then.
Pros: I purchased one of these 500 GB HD’s to upgrade the existing HD in my PS3, and I can honestly say that it was well worth it and then some. Now, I have so much storage space for games, music, movies, and pictures as well. It truly turns your Playstation 3 into a full fledged media monster.
You couldn’t possible go wrong by adding this must have to the arsenal.
Cons: None. It does what it needs to do.
Pros: I bought this for my ps3 and could not be happier. Its fast and easy to install ( make sure you have a size #0 phillips head screw driver ). It shows 465gb after format and is working flawlessly.
Cons: none
Pros: 500 Gigs for a hundred bucks! Got this for my PS3, put it in fired up the PS3 and off i went, with no problems
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: I’ll never run out of space, i can have all my music a couple movies and all my games installed with expansion packs and still be far from filling it!

Pros: Quiet
Fast
Runs cool
Low power requirement
Cons: None yet. I suppose I’ll find out what the long term reliability is like eventually. Three platters in a notebook drive sounds like a tight squeeze.
Overall Review: I bought this drive to replace a customer’s HDD that was developing bad sectors. I had it in a 2.5″ external enclosure for a bit–it only needed power from a single USB port, so I decided to keep it for myself and purchase a smaller drive for the repair. Works very well in a cheapo CoolMax USB/eSATA enclosure w/o an external power jack.
