Pros: This was purchased for a used T60 that I bought recently. The T60 originally had a 100GB drive in it and was the original one from 2007. I also heard it make a few weird clicks from time to time so I thought that I needed to replace it soon before it died on me.
This comes with a new HDD drive sled (caddy) and it came to me very well packed by Lenovo.
Since this is a 7.2K RPM with a 16MB cache it is real snappy and responsive.
Cons: From what I’ve read on the net (at least on the older models) you have to use a IBM/ Lenovo branded drive or it will give you a nag error message everytime it boots. I think they corrected the issue on the newer model machines like mine but I didn’t want to take a chance on it not acting up so I had to pay more for it for the IBM name. Also, I couldn’t confirm if the Active HDD Protection (airbag) thing would work or not with a non IBM HDD in there. In theory it should work since the app just forces the head arms over in the park position during protection mode. That is what swayed me to buy this.
Overall Review: Is this a good deal, nah. But if you want or need the Lenovo name on it then you gotta do what you gotta do.
Pros: Fast service Stood behind product they sold
Cons: None
Overall Review: The seller contacted me and resolved my problems with 100% satisfaction

Overall Review: I own both a T60 and a T61. They are not affected by this issue and Active Protection works fine with aftermarket drives.
The models that require specific drives (and specific firmware revisions on those drives) are T43/T43p, R52 and X41 models. There are a number of workarounds so you can use other drives – just do a quick web search.
Unless I missed something, all the affected units use PATA drives, so this drive isn’t even applicable. In fact, the X41 uses a 1.8″ drive.
ALWAYS do your own research before trusting a random “review”.
