Pros: Very, very nice drive. Runs really fast, quiet and cool. Replaced my 2-years-old PowerBook G4 original drive, which was a Hitachi 4200RPM 2MB Cache. Excellent battery consumption. Battery last over 3 hours on a single charge.
This drive makes the machine runs as it should have run in the first place.
Cons: NONE
Overall Review: No machine should come with anything less of a 7200 RPM HD.
Comments: the jump from 4200 to a 7200 is amazing. though it cuts down the battery life alot and runs awefully hot it is really fast and now for once my laptop can run like a desktop should run.
Pros: very fast for a laptop. available for my pata notebook
Cons: i didn’t wait for the bigger ones.
Overall Review: how long before someone figures out 10000 rpm i wonder?
Pros: Fast, easy install. This drive is great.
Cons: 60GB.
Overall Review: I put this drive in a Dell 600m. Much improved. 60GB is a little small nowadays, but that’s ok. This drive is fast and inexpensive, and it works great.
Pros: – 7200 RPM spindle speed
– large onboard cache
– fast access time
Cons: – not the cheapest drive on the block, but you get what you pay for
Overall Review: I purchased this drive for a client, replacing the 5 year old 20 GB Hitachi TravelStar OEM drive. Due to the higher spindle speed, larger cache, and more space for the pagefile, the machine is now running at least 2x faster than before. A wise investment, and a lot of bang for the buck.
Pros: Noticeably faster than the factory installed 4200 RPM HDD in my 12″ iBook G4 (M9426LL/A). Doesn’t sacrifice much of the battery life for such an improvement in performance. The price on Newegg is as low as you’ll find it; great deal!
Cons: Everything is great! However, due to the amount of screws you’ll need to remove in order to replace the iBook’s HDD, I’d recommend paying for the labor for a professional to do it.
Overall Review: The factory installed drive that came with my iBook died so after a considerable amount of research, I decided to replace it with this one.
Pros: Great drive and very quiet. Works great in iBook G4.
Cons: A little hot
Overall Review: Big improvement over stock 4200 RPM Drive

Pros: I already had the Hitachi E7K60, 40g version, and needed to increase storage. So hopefully this info will be helpful as a comparison between the 2. Hitachi utility lets you adjust acoustics. Use it to reduce seek speed a tiny amount and all clicking goes away. 7K100 does not emit the periodic whine-buzz like noise of the E7K60, and thus overall is a quieter drive. Slightly less power drain. Slightly less heat production. Same fabulous performance. Compared to 5400 and 4200 RPM drives, blows them away.
Cons: Just an FYI: This is a bare OEM drive so all transfer/cloning with existing HD is up to you.
Overall Review: This drive is an excellent upgrade for older notebooks with stock 4200 and 5400 RPM drives. You will be very pleased. I might add that in my experience Newegg has the BEST PRICE AND SERVICE, so you can buy with confidence. I recommend the Apricorn EZ-Upgrade product for a _fast_ no-hassle HD transfer plus a fast way to make a periodic snapshot (instantly swappable) backup/bootable clone of your drive.
