Pros: The drive has performed well so far.
Cons: I ordered this drive as a replacement for the HD in an Inspiron because the physical dimensions on Newegg listed the height as 9.5MM. This is INCORRECT. This drive actually uses the newer 7MM form factor. Due to the difference in height I had to shim the drive to make a solid fit in the laptop.
Overall Review: If the height isn’t an issue for you then this is an ok drive.
Pros: Size helps, and 7200rpm provides faster feel to computer speed.
Cons: Nothing I can think of
Overall Review: Purchased this hard drive to replace a defective macbook hard drive. The hard drive was easily installed and the Mac OS X installer guided me the rest of the way. Very happy to have my mac back.
Pros: Nice and roomy upgrade for my 2007 Macbooks 120 GB 5400 RPM drive. Installation was a breeze. Got this on sale for a great price.
Cons: None.
Pros: Cheap Price (it wotks but suddenly stops working, slow boot, no reading and freezes) tried refformating and no suceed
Cons: the hard drive has died in less than a year! Shame there is no refund no way in order status to claim a warranty from the factory
Overall Review: Deffo i wouldnt reccommend others to get this hard drive i think i wont ever get bare drives anymore, im totally not satisfied this time with my purchase, i have dispossed to the garbage the packagin so how can i send it back to the factoryto claim a warranty or exchange?
Hope hitachi support could explain if there is a production deffects on this model s/n 63CG193M
Hitachi Staff… is there a way to send it to you tothe factory? to check it out? there are no noises (so i assume there is something else than reading problems)
Pros: It was decently priced.
Cons: Bought as a replacement for a HP Laptop that had a dead hard disk. Drive lasted for 4 months of very light use without being dropped or abused in anyway and then out of the blue I got a S.M.A.R.T. warning and the drive failed.
Pros: Average drive.
Cons: Drive failed within 6 months. Factory RMA site wouldn’t accept my serial number, had to process over the phone. No advanced replacement and had to ship back at my expense. I replaced with a Western Digital as I have had no issues with RMA’s from them. Too bad they own HGST and don’t follow the same RMA process.
Pros: Works in HP dv6629
Cons: None
Overall Review: Works great. Installed Windows Vista from recovery disks and then installed Ubuntu 12.04. So far, so good.

Pros: Works great with my HP62 laptop. This Hitachi is faster and quieter than the original Toshiba drive. And what a great price!!
And how does Newegg ship so FAST anyway??
Cons: A “bare drive” is just that. Don’t get it unless you are comfortable enough to work without any packaging, directions, CD, mounting screws, etc. You JUST get the drive itself. But it is well packed in bubble wrap in a Newegg cardboard box. And if it is a replacement drive you can reuse the mounting screws and housing from the old failed drive.
Overall Review: When the original Toshiba drive failed in my HP62 I decided to go with something a little faster. The original Toshiba was 5400 RPM and 8Mb cache. This new Hitachi is 7200 RPM with 16Mb cache. and it gets 320Gb on a single platter!
This new Hitachi is demonstrably faster and amazingly quiet. It really is a rock solid performer.
The swap out with the old Toshiba drive required a standard phillips head screwdriver and about ten minutes. Of course I reused the mounting screws and housing from the old drive. The rest was just loading the OS. I went with Linux Mint which is free and recognized everything on my HP including the camera, the mic, and the multi card reader. Piece of cake.
