Pros: It’s quick compared to 5400rpm drives. I installed it as an upgrade from my 5400rpm 80GB MacBook hard disk, and this drive benchmarks 15.5% faster, especially strong in the sequential reading and writing tests. It’s quiet and does not vibrate.
Cons: None that I’ve encountered. I give it a full five eggs.
Overall Review: I read a lot of reviews here about the hard disk being loud and vibrating. I paid special attention to this, and this disk does not vibrate or make loud noise at all. I can’t hear it spinning in a quiet room, and I can’t hear disk activity. The low-speed cooling fan on my MacBook is louder than this drive. After running non stop for 8 hours, it does not make the laptop feel warm around the drive. No complaints from me.
Pros: Quick, quiet, overall great drive! I have 2 running in raid0, 16k stripes, vista home basic 64, loads vista in 4 passes of the loading bar. These are installed in a SUPERMICRO CSE-M14TB. Need to get two more of these and run all 4 in raid0!! Very happy camper!!
Cons: So far, none.
Overall Review: Running AMD 9850 on a Gigabyte GA-MA78GPM-DS2H, 8 gigs of Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400, Radeon 4870 single core, LG GGC-H20LK BluRay combo drive with a Frankensteined Thermaltake 780is water cooling system upgraded to 1/2″ tubing, wedged into a Thermaltake M9 case with only 2 Silex IXP-76-18 120mm fans. For those who are interested, the thermal compound I swear by is Coollaboratory LIQUID PRO. Liquid metal, awesome thermal exchange properties, far superior to any other thermal compound I have used. Do thorough research before using this stuff!! Its liquid metal. I used it on my GPU, CPU and northbridge, system idles at 82 degrees F, goes up to 100 during intense gaming, then drops back down to 82 in less than two minutes. For my next build, I am taking a long, hard, serious look at peltiers.
Pros: The hard drive on my laptop went out. Replaced it with this and was able to install Windows Vista without any drivers. Just popped the hard drive in, started up the computer, and installed Vista… Very easy install!
It also runs at 7200 rpm whereas my old hard drive ran at 5400 rpm, so that was a boost.
Cons: None
Overall Review: All in all, this is a great easy to install product at a great price.
newegg is tops!
Pros: Quiet. No apparent problems. Excellent deal. Vista disk rating jumped from 4.6 to 5.3. System is noticeably faster.
Cons: Not as fast as some newer (and more expensive) drives. May run just a bit warmer than my old drive.
Overall Review: Definitely worth upgrading to a 7200 rpm drive if you are a power notebook user.
Pros: WOW!! UPGRADED FROM A 4200 RPM (SAME BRAND) TO THIS 7200 RPM DRIVE. THE DIFFERANCE IS INCREDIBLE! TOOK 2.5 HOURS TO FORMAT MY 4200 THE 7200 FORMATTED IN 30 MINUTES, CLEAN XP HOME INSTALL COMPLETED 15 MINUTES LATER. VERY EASY INSTALL AND MY CMOS FOUND IT ON FIRST BOOT. VERY QUIET ONLY MINOR VIBRATION. I OWN A TOSHIBA A215-S7462 AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DRIVE TO ALL MY FRIENDS!!
Cons: NONE, EXCEPT IT DOESN’T INSTALL ITSELF LOL!!
Overall Review: HAVE USED NEWEGG FOR YEARS AND WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS QUALITY PARTS AT A REASONABLE PRICE
Pros: For the price, you can’t beat this level of performance in a notebook drive. I run an MSI MS-1651 barebones and this thing runs nice and cool, without vibration. FAST too! I get a rating of 5.3 in Windows for data transfer rates, pretty darn nice for a notebook! I’ve had a few Fujitsu lappy drives before and they seem to take beatings pretty well compared to say S*@gate. This is the first 7200 RPM lappy version I’ve owned so we’ll see how it holds up.
Cons: Is it just me or is Newegg shipping getting slower and their order tracking becoming more mundane?
Overall Review: I could see this drive vibrating more if it was not properly seated – so be sure to take proper steps. Since I custom built my notebook, it gives me more tools to play around with than a factory configured one. Rubber stoppers between the hard drive and housing are essential to reduce vibration and noise. Also, if you’re between this at 8 MB cache and another drive at 16 MB, save yourself the money and get this one. That 16 MB buffer isn’t going to make enough of a difference to justify the extra $$$.
Pros: HDD works just fine with no issues. You can’t beat the price either.
Cons: I had to format it on anther PC and then install it into my laptop for the OS to copy to it.
No big deal.

Pros: It works. As opposed to the seagate that came with my laptop.
Cons: A little bit of vibration (the hard drive sits under my right hand in my laptop) that might be a nuisance to some but nothing too noticeable.
Overall Review: Upgraded from an 80 GB drive that had to be reformatted twice in three months. Haven’t had any issues with this one at all.
