Pros: still none
Cons: spent two hours tring to get the HD to work. Installed on two computers and put into external HD case and tryed to use as mass USB storage and it still did not work.
Overall Review: RMA for refund. NEWEGG waved restock fee and refunded shipping.
NEWEGG rocks Thanx again.
Pros: none
Cons: windows installed it but i could not find it in the system to use it
Pros: I’ve had 2 of these in raid 0 for 2+yrs. They have been great.
Cons: none
Overall Review: Well they were a great deal when I got mine 2yrs ago at ~$50, now with larger HD’s for cheap its prob not as good of deal. So step up and spend a little more and get some larger drives. You can use the Hitachi tools to change some settings/test the drives. They dont compare to my Raptor raid 0 array, were great for the money at the time.
Pros: Fast and relatively cheap. These drives have been very reliable too, the only trouble I ever had out of them was when the computer got ‘zapped’ by lightning and the drives died. I RMA’d them to Hitachi and they sent me two new drives. I put these in RAID 0 and they are very fast (>90mb/sec sustained) which for drives that are only 80gb and several years old technology wise thats not bad at all…single drives are only starting to catch up. Use the Hitachi drive tool from their website to change settings on these…by default they are set to 3.0Gbs, if you have a 1.5Gbs controller you will need this tool to set the drives to 1.5 because there are NO JUMPERS on the drive to do this.
Cons: Price….only a few dollars cheaper than they were when I bought them almost two years ago now. Newegg needs to stop gouging on things…hard drives across the board just a couple of months ago were cheaper than they are now (late Dec 07) and that tells me they are just gouging for the holiday shopping season (even after Christmas)
