Pros: Fast shipment received in two days.
Load clicking sounds from Hard Drive and bios beeping did not hurt my computer.
Cons: Requiring a refund on a Hard Drive that had free shipping. Now I am paying $9.85 for shipping to return and being charged $7.20 for restocking fee, total $17.05 and the hard drive only cost $47.99.
Overall Review: Was planning on getting the HITACHI Deskstar P7K500 HDP725050GLA360 (0A35415) 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5″ Internal Hard Drive instead of a replacement 320GB and eating the return shipping charge but the restocking fee halted that.
Pros: Quiet
Quiet
Quiet
Cons: Price?
Overall Review: This is without a doubt the quietest drive I’ve ever owned. This is my 6th Hitachi drive of recent history and it is the quietest of them all. Transfer rate is ~99MB/s with the box I’m using but newer CS boards may yield higher. I think drives of this size range are a bit high at fifty USD.
Not sure if Hitachi has changed how the SMART data is reported/recorded or if the difference is because this drive may not have “Low Power”. But, SMART #2,#3 & #8 report at 100% on this drive. All other Hitachi drives I have (1T & 2T) report these data nearly exactly at “66%” (whatever that means).
Pros: Quiet. Can’t even hear it above the case fans.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: Bought two of these for a raid 0 config on a new machine. Win7 boots in seconds from POST.
Pros: Super quiet, decent performance, solid reliability.
Cons: It is what it is, a budget drive. It feels cheap, like they skimped on the materials used… But that isn’t unusual for this segment, even from other manufacturers.
Overall Review: Installed it, fired the system up, and it worked like a champ. Drive is very quiet, even with the case open which is a bonus.
Pros: Good drive. Works well so far
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: You can get quite a bit more space for 10 – 20 dollars more
Pros: Quiet, reliable, fast enough.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Bought this in December 2009 to replace a WD Raptor boot drive; still going strong (June 2014).
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Well, i’ve ordered several parts from Newegg before, but this is the first one that’s ever been DOA. As soon as I booted the comp up, it started clicking. It was gone.
Overall Review: Now the 1 egg rating isn’t necessarily for the HDD. Things happen and sometimes you get broken components. It’s for me not being able to RMA the HDD because I don’t have a printer to print out the RMA label. Why can’t I just write the numbers on the box? Can you guys not read? So now I have to buy a printer because of someone else’s mess up. It actually might just be cheaper to buy a new HDD, but I wouldn’t go with this one again.

Pros: Great for holding down desk papers, sitting on a shelf looking cool and an expensive conversation piece.
Cons: DOA right away. I was going to install a hard drive for a buddy of mine, low and behold a 1/4 of the way installing windows the hard drive died. 🙁
Overall Review: (I would prefer not to say my other thoughts with this matter) Im finding that SCSI drives seam to be the ONLY thing reliable these days. If it says “Made in China” it probably means your going to throw it away in less then 2 years.
