Pros: what can i say other than another hard drive from seagate with no problems
Cons: stays cool and quite runs fast enough for my windows ultimate 64 add.
Overall Review: price was right
Pros: Extremely simple to set up and use, as this type of drive should be. Plug ‘n Play convenience in a variety of operating environments. (I personally used it to shuttle data between a variety of computers running XP, Vista, and Ubuntu 7.10 & 8.04.)
Cons: Reliability. I started getting random read/write failures about six weeks after purchase, with total drive failure about a week after that. Thankfully, I was able to retrieve and backup most data I had stored on it during that week after the problems began to surface. In case anyone is wondering, the problem was definitely in the drive itself and not the external interface. (I removed the drive – a standard Barracuda 7200.10, if you’re curious – and hooked it up directly to my MB’s SATA interface. No dice, drive was still dead as a dodo.)
Overall Review: I have had a 250 GB FreeAgent drive running without problems for over a year now, so I can’t say that all my experiences with Seagate drives have been bad. Still, it seems that most of my drive failures over the years have been on Seagate/Maxtor units so I think I’ll be using other vendors to meet my storage needs for the foreseeable future.
Pros: Works fast and seems to be reliable. Setup was very easy. Runs a lot cooler than my previous external drive. Personally, I like the power-saving spin-down feature, as it prevents the drive from spinning idly for days on end (as sometimes happened with my previous drive when I forgot to switch it off).
Cons: When you Hibernate a Windows machine with the drive attached, it takes an extra 5-10 seconds to restart. At some point early in the boot process it blocks waiting for the drive to spin up. This can not be avoided without physically disconnecting either the USB or power cable. Using “Safely Remove Hardware” in Windows before hibernating doesn’t make a difference – it still blocks the boot process (although the drive isn’t available in Windows after resuming). A very annoying and unavoidable waste of time.
The case design will be annoying if you want to carry it around with you. Doesn’t affect me, and it does look cool.
Overall Review: I found to my chagrin after buying it on newegg that it was $25 less at another online retailer that I trust.
Pros: Worked nice while it lasted.
Cons: Died after about 10 months. You see a bit of smoke and get a nice burning smell when you plug it in. I took the drive out of the enclosure so I could retrieve the data on it (didn’t want to take a chance on losing the data), and that voided my warranty. Seagate refuses to have anything to do with me because of that.
I can understand that removing the drive from the enclosure might void the warranty, but I’m not happy with how the drive died and how Seagate treated me.
Overall Review: I won’t be buying any more Seagate products.
Pros: The hard drive is excellent. 750 gb was plenty and runs fast.
Cons: After a month of owning thins the usb connection on the case came loose and was not usable. I had to buy another external enclosure. So don’t count on the case being really sturdy.
Overall Review: Seagate’s support wasn’t helpful one bit.
Pros: Everything! Great price for a great drive!
Cons: None
Overall Review: Buy this!
Pros: Nice looking, takes up little desktop space
Cons: Runs very warm and the two I bought both failed at right around 7 months of use. Had the same experience as the other reviewer with the errors and drive not being recognized by the computer.
Overall Review: Could not keep one of them working long enough to get everything off of it.. and there wasn’t a lot on it yet. The other one I was able to rescue the data from. Seagate replaced the one that I sent back with a refurbished drive. Will be sending the other one back as well. Don’t know what I will do with the replacements… paperweights maybe?

Pros: Well first off, the drive looks great out of the box. Sitting next to my case it looks awesome with the long orange LED with its calm pulsating blinking. Just like the product specs describe its a 7200 rpm hard drive, and it boasts comparable speeds: it took less than an hour to move 87gb of data from my internal to my external.
Great compatibility with vista, the software installation was very quick, however you do not need to install it.
Cons: None, really.
Overall Review: Would have been nice to have another 2-3 feet on the power cable but that is just me… Everything about the drive is just right and it is money well spent. Super fast shipping.
