Smaller than i expected

Cons: Light stays on if you unplug the USB without ejecting, but that is user error.
Uses up a USB port, and an electrical plug
Overall Review: When i first got this, i directly plugged it into my MacBook and time machine reformatted the entire drive for use with TimeMachine
so i had to partition it, and reformatted the non timemachine partition to FAT, and now it works great.
PCs and my ps3 will read and write to the FAT partition, and my MacBook can read and write to both partitions.
Pros: On the money does what it was designed to do. Got it for a great price. No other back up programs are neccessary.

Pros: Works just as suggested in other positive reviews. Plug it in. Software installs itself and you’re good to go.

Overall Review: This is the first time that I’ve ever been disappointed with NewEgg in any way. The packaging was as careless as any that I’ve ever seen. The Seagate box was basically just rattling around inside of the shipping carton with almost no packing material to cushion it. This probably speaks well of the durability of Seagate products – especially given the beating the box must have taken from UPS.
Pros: Very cool looking pulsing, spiral, spacey design. Stackable and the cool design would still be viewable.
Cons: The 2-3 seconds it takes to initialize after it has been idle for awhile but that is not really that big of a deal and is expected to save power and keep durable.
Overall Review: My 3rd freeagent. 1st was original (2 years old), 2nd was Pro (year old), but this is by far the coolest looking. Never a problem with any of them.
Pros: Cheap, fast, quiet. No issues whatsoeve with this drive. I was thoroughly impressed with the performance as well. I’m using it to run virtual pc’s.
Cons: Haven’t run into a con yet.

Pros: First I tried the installed software…. Decided to format and ditch the software. I leave the power plugged in and only plug in the usb when needed. Over a year and not one problem , big files (movies,games) down to little files, transfer speeds are great! Just ordered another one for almost half what i paid for this one a year ago , go figure 🙂

Overall Review: sleek design, blends in on my desktop (black version) , don’t know why they went to white but eh , this is going behind the Xbox media center so no biggie 🙂
Pros: Fast. Have 2 configured in a mirror- scored 5.9 in a Vista write test. Great drives. Cheap. Low Power Consumption. 5 year warranty. Seagate owns this game.

Pros: Fast Transfer speeds – Hard disk to External disk transfer ran at 22 MB/sec as said by vista.
The light in front tells you if it’s active or idle.
Some people are complaining about heat, I used SpeedFan and my drive is running at 105-110 Fahrenheit, not much different from my internal drives. We’ll see if I have the heat problem, but so far it’s warm to the touch, and not blazing hot as other people portray. I also have about 2 inches of clearance around all sides, maybe that helps.
This drive is also very quiet, not much noise output unless you put your ear next to it.
Cons: Software that came bundled is not the greatest for backup, but when is bundled software any good? it doesn’t pick up folder like Videos, Pictures, but only the music folder?? Seagate has said in their forums that you have to “manually drag those folders in,” usinn explorer..I’m pretty sure that defeats the whole auto-backup feature. The only reason I used the bundled software was to change the idle time to 3 minutes for when it’s not in use.
Overall Review: This is a great drive, the only issue I see is with the software being misleading and the heat issue, none of which I’ve had too much trouble with. Windows Backup is a good alternative to SeaGates included software, I have it on nightly backup. About 60 GB of backup took an hour.
Kind of regret buying the extended warranty because SeaGate has their own 5-year warranty.
In all this is a very good drive, hopefully the other people with heat problems were unlucky and got bad drives.
