Pros: The shipping was fast.
The unit powers on, and boots up, so I guess that’s good…definitely living on the edge here with a server that considering the cons below:
Cons: The shipping packaging was terrible.
The system has 8 drive bays. 2 of the bays were missing their dust shields. Upon calling Tekboost, I got an excuse that it isn’t supposed to come with all 8. I have told Tekboost they’ll be eating a return if they don’t rectify. I am still waiting on a call back for something that is a default part of a 1U server (the drive bay dust shields are their for a reason!)
The server doesn’t have “minor scuffs” as advertised. The front plate is all scratched, and the chassis has 2 dents in it.
Overall Review: No, I rarely review things negatively, and I was more than fair with Tekboost when I talked to their rep about them not including rack rails, since I don’t actually need them (I have some old Dell rails here that work just fine), but getting the run around about the standard drive bay shields will result in this will be the only transaction I do with this company. I could have bought new within budget. I chose to go this route to give this company an opportunity for a long term investment for purpose built servers to act as school bell controllers (the hardware needed is barely anything by todays standards – so had this worked out better, this would have been a great solution to cost save public dollars).
