Pros: With the 3xxx series becoming more common in laptops, the previous generations have been becoming more competitively priced and a good pick up right now.
The screen looks and feels great at 144hz.
The keys feel great to touch.
The metal finish on the top lid and keyboard face gives the laptop a nice look and feel to the touch.
Puts out some serious performance for it’s price in games.
Fans are controllable. They can be turned up quite high and put out some serious airflow. You can set the heat curve as well and be as generous with the speed or quiet as needed.
Cons: Not going to dock any eggs for these as these are personal preferences.
I prefer a full keyboard with my laptop, we numerical pad. Not having one always makes me feel at a loss when using the device for any sort of work. If I planned to use the area for extra keys in a game or desktop shortcuts, it’s gone…
Another note about the keyboard is while it looks nice and feels nice to the touch, the larger keys leave very little space between keys, making it easier for two keys to be pressed by mistake.
It would be quite hard to fit a full keyboard and more key spacing with a thin bezel 15″ screen, so it is just a sacrifice to be made.
Overall Review: Overall I’m extremely pleased with the laptop and would certainly buy again. I do wish I had held out on the purchase for another week when the i7 version was on sale for virtually the same price, but you win some you lose some.
Pros: This laptop is amazingly quiet compared to others I have had and my husband and son have ( also gaming laptops). Yes, there is a little fan noise but my husband and son’s laptops are much louder. Very responsive, quiet keyboard. Love the red backlighting but I do wish there would be an option to highlight WASD keys and arrow keys. Monitor has nice high refresh rate and beautiful picture. Since I don’t do much multitasking, 8 GB DDR4 is fine for me, as well as 512 GB hard drive. One of the best purchases I have made so far.
Cons: No cons overall, just wish I was able to highlight the WASD and arrow keys for my games. No problem with the red color, easy on the eyes.
Overall Review: I do recommend this laptop. My husband is amazed at how quiet it is and is considering it for his next purchase. Price point is good, but I got it on sale so price was great for me.
Pros: Very fast boot timeIt handle the graphics I need for me to enjoy the games I play on steamIt pairs well with Samsung dex which is very nice
Cons: It had very little ram but I installed 32 gigs off the bat so it was a non issueThe monitor hinges could be smoother
Overall Review: It a great laptop and I have no major issues with it. MSI never fails to satisfy in my opinion

Pros: Great budget gaming laptop
Easy to upgrade RAM as I did from 8 to 32 GB (upgradeable to a whopping 64 GB!)
Easy to upgrade/add an additional SSD
Cons: Battery life could be better yet with hardware demands of this type it is an expected consequence
Speakers could be better placed as they are downward-facing near the front corners
Overall Review: I recommend this laptop to anyone with a midrange budget for gaming. It has hardware powerful enough
to play most current games well as it is, out-of-the-box. Also, it is upgradeable and super responsive
Pros: Value proposition is strong
Two M.2 Slots
Bloatware is at a minimum, but I still suggest running a clean image as soon as you get it. That being said, Dragon Software from MSI is actually helpful. You can set a maximum battery charge, create fan profiles, and a few other things.
144hz IPS screen
Essentially a cut down, cheaper Acer Nitro 5.
It will run Triple A games at playable framerates and Esports games will be able to take advantage of the 144hz screen.
Cons: !!! The 2060 runs at 80W !!!
The cooling solution is adequate, but the fans really are a jet engine while gaming. Headphones are an absolute must.
Ships with only one single channel 8 gig stick of RAM running at CL19-19-19-43 2666MHz, so you’ll have to drop $40 to upgrade it to duel channel.
Again, the biggest flaw is that the 2060 is only running at 80W. If it ran at 100-115, this would be the bargain of the century.
Fingerprint magnet. This thing attracts so much finger oil, you’ll constantly be cleaning it
Overall Review: Keyboard and trackpad are fine. Nothing to write home about, but they get the job done. Battery life is non-existent if you are gaming. You will have to be plugged in to a wall.
If you can get it on sale for under $800 or with a rebate, it’s a great value, especially given the new 3060 laptops start at $1200.
Pros: In terms of updates, this would be a better choice than what I was using. As advertised, the model I have comes with the Core i7-9750H CPU and a GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GDDR6 GPU. This is a much better upgrade from my Acer Nitro 5.When looking at the bottom, there are some more open grates for the SSD, CPU, RAM and Heatsink. This proves important because you can use an elevated stand or cooling setup where you can improve performance significantly. A bonus, considering how many gaming laptops don’t have the open ventillations aside from the heatsink fans. For this model, there are two M.2 Slots that can be upgradable. One is occupied by the OS-installed SSD and another is open. There is room for upgradability on the second slot for either a SATA or PCIe M.2 card. This is an aparant advantage on using a SSD/HDD combo because there aren’t any mechanical, moving parts to be concern. Especially, when using a laptop where you are on the move.
Cons: Not too much of a Con for me, but for those who want to make overclocking. The negative is the overclocking of Memory RAM. I installed two 2666 MHz RAM sticks but they read as 2400 MHz. There isn’t a way to modify the Memory RAM to overclock for that setting.Next one is the SSD! The one that is installed is a Kingston A2000 M.2 PCIe SSD. The read and write on the memory isn’t the best one out there. However, it is someting to use for when you don’t have enough money for a budget.
Overall Review: As someone who is out of the hosue, I would need to find an affordable laptop to use for work, gaming, and video editing. What I can say is this is one of the better ones to use. Even better where you can get it on an additional discount. I will post pictures of my current system, the benchmarks I use for the SSD, and at least a benchmark of the FPS on the games I installed.
Pros: Fast boot up
High frame rates
Specs to price value
Cons: It’s a little loud
Fingerprint magnet
Overall Review: Coming from a desktop, I was very selective about the specs and this laptop definitely delivered at its price range. I just bought the new call of duty and it runs with flying colors on high settings and some ray tracing. Definitely not going to get the same performance as a desktop with these specs, but with a little tinkering with the dragon center (the built in software), on performance mode, you can play just about any game you want. I play Half Life Alyx on this thing and it does well. Overall very happy with my purchase, can’t imagine being upset about the fans, it’s a gaming laptop.. I don’t know what high performance gaming laptop doesn’t turn into a little leaf blower. Only other thing I think is worth mentioning is this machine might not be your next mobile streaming center. Running discord and the webcam at the same time as playing a game really hits on the performance.
Still would recommend to all my friends. At this price point, I feel like it’s a phenomenal purchase. This is my first gaming laptop since being a desktop owner, and I’m a happy camper.

Pros: Very thin and light. When I first took it out of the box I thought the battery was missing. It’s also very quiet with minimal bloat ware. The performance seems to be on par with my Radeon RX580 so it plays all my games at max in 1080P- Wolfenstein series, Destiny 2. The graphics card has 6GB RAM. All the other laptops I’ve seen with this GPU only had 4. It has an extra NVME slot.
Cons: My only real complaint is that you have to take the bottom of the case off to do any upgrades. There are no access panels. One of the screws has a factory sticker over it so I’m assuming it will void the warranty if you remove it. There is only 1 stick of RAM so you have to void the warranty to use dual channel RAM or upgrade/add an SSD.
Overall Review: I needed a new GPU for my desktop and a new laptop so this kills 2 birds. I just connect the laptop to my 32″ monitor when I want to game.
