Comments: Easily installed in a xxxxx. The Hitachi drive worked perfectly. This HD was a great value, too.
Comments: popped right into a sony vaio and worked perfect from the start. Thanks.
Comments: Replacement for Sony Vaio 10gb. Setup on test machine as IDE2, ghosted from IDE1, then installed in notebook; worked great. 5400 rpm vs 4200 is excellent improvement in speed. Only 3 days to delivery.
Comments: Was very pleased with this hard drive, used to replace a 10GB 4200 in xxxxxxx. Major speed increase and is MUCH quieter than the old drive… you can barely hear it in a dead quiet environment. Ussually use Seagate, but thought I’d save a few bucks with this drive, so far so good. Would recommend to anyone. Newegg was perfect as ussual.
Comments: This drive was a great replacement to the original 10 GB 4200 RPM drive in my iBook 466. The drive is quiet and fast. I would recommend this drive to anyone.
Comments: Bought 3 of these drives. All went seemlessly into their environments and man did they improve the performance of the laptops. I put them in a Toshiba and a Sony Vaio. I also bought one to put in an external case. The external is fast and very small.
Comments: I was hesitant on buying this drive over some of the cheaper drives, but I am glad I spent the extra money. The first thing that I noticed was how quiet this drive was compared to the older 20gb drives most of our laptops come with. This drive is silent…purely amazing. Plus the added benefits of the performance of the drive and the excelent service from newegg and you can’t loose.

Comments: As others have noted, you can make a laptop perform much more quickly with an upgrade like this, as well as by adding more memory. In fact, upgrades like this are, in general, much better at boosting performance than getting a new laptop with a faster CPU.
I bought one of these drives to upgrade the stock 20Gb/4200 rpm drive on my laptop. I’m only on Day 1 of using it, so I can’t comment on long-term reliability, but I can say the performance improvement is substantial. Programs launch much more quickly now, and XP boots more quickly.
Note: The drive does exhibit a minor ticking/clicking sound when it’s idle. It’s a bit annoying, but I just tune it out. A bit of googling on the issue convinces me it’s a normal sound for this drive, not a sign of imminent failure (but always back up your data just to be safe).
