7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s For Enterprise Storage 1 Year Warranty from Reseller
Doubling the capacity density As data center professionals across the globe work to meet growing enterprise needs, they face the dilemma of storing more data in the same footprint while also reducing power and HVAC consumption. The new Ultrastarâ„¢ 7K3000 provides twice the data storage capacity of the prior generation Ultrastar A7K2000 drive, and does so using fewer watts. Combining 7200 RPM performance and granular power control Operating at 7200 RPM, the Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 offers better overall performance than slower-RPM, capacity-oriented drives at impressively low power-consumption rates. When compared to the previous generation Ultrastar 7K2000, the 7K2000 offers up to a 155% improvement in sustained data transfer rate, and a 120% improvement in watts-per-GB.
With five Advanced Power Management modes, a 36% reduction in watts during low-RPM idle mode, and using less than 1W during standby/sleep mode, the Ultrastar 7K2000 can help data centers achieve lower AC power and HVAC requirements, freeing up precious headroom Enhancing data safety and security To ensure the utmost in data safety and security, the Ultrastar 7K2000 is also available with a bulk data encryption (BDE) option. When enabled, the Hitachi BDE implementation encrypts all data on the drive using a private security key as it is written to the disk, and then decrypts it with the key as it is retrieved, giving users an extreme level of data protection.
Unlike softwarebased encryption solutions, the Hitachi BDE implementation is hardware-based, so it doesn’t slow the system down. This technology also speeds up and simplifies the drive re-deployment and decommissioning process. By deleting the encryption key, the data is rendered unreadable, thereby eliminating the need for time-consuming, multi-pattern data overwrite Delivering industry-leading reliability With a robust fourth-generation mechanical design, Ultrastar 7K2000 is specifically built and tested for the enterprise. The Ultrastar SATA drive family features Hitachi-patented Rotational Vibration Safeguard (RVS) sensor technology, which optimizes drive reliability in multi-drive RAID arrays and rack-mounted systems.
Backed by a five-year warranty, the Ultrastar platform has earned Hitachi a reputation among server and storage vendors as a global partner dedicated to delivering the highest quality and reliability in the industry.

Overall Review: Drive came sealed in factory static shielding bag. Drive formatted and is working as promised.
I picked HGST because of their performance records from backblaze.
Happy with my purchase!
Pros: Large storage capacity. Runs quiet.
Cons: This drive will only format 2TB leaving the remaining 2TB unformatted and unusable. There are two workarounds to this issue, a set of commands using Windows 10 or a 3rd party bit of software. Once that is accomplished the full 4TB are available. The downside is that anything you have stored on the drive will be lost.
Overall Review: In my opinion, manufacturers should include specific instructions or software to make it function in Windows 10. I have only been using this product for a few days but my initial impression is that this is a nice HD.

Pros: For a mechanical hard drive the read and write speeds are amazing. I am getting up to 165MB/sec sustained writes on large files on over 30GB worth of files, so it is not a cached write either. Even on small files I was getting up to 95MB/sec writes. On average I was getting 130-135MB/sec writes. I consolidated several smaller drives worth of files to this drive. 1.1TB total data through USB 3.0 adapter on my laptop. You likely would have even faster SATA reads/writes. I don’t know how much exactly.
Cons: It wasn’t free??? Seriously nothing at all. Great seller, great drive, great transfer speeds.
Overall Review: Using crystaldiskmark my read and write speeds both capped out at 176MB/sec. Not sure if this is the limit of the drive, the SATA to USB 3.0 adapter or the USB 3.0 port on the laptop.
