Pros: I ordered four of these to replace 80G 15k SAS drives in two dell domain controllers .. i didn’t need a new servers for domain controllers i only needed larger hard drives . i am letting these two domain controllers run some more instead buy new ones . i not even going to pay for any more warranty on them so i am use these hard drives. dual quad-core with 4G ram is plenty for 2008 domain controllers especially when i have vm domain controllers anyways. i have to keep at least two hardware domain controllers in a network so i rebuilt them with these hard drives.
Cons: none so far
Overall Review: figure this out .. my dell equalogic san device comes full with hitachi drives .. so these are ok for servers. my first choice is always seagate drives but i like hitachi’s too .
Pros: Super-fast seek times and transfer rates. Unit run quietly. Cheaper than the equivalent Seagate Cheetah.
Cons: Only has 3-year warranty.
Pros: Uh well I loves these drives Hitachi Ultrastar hasn’t made a bad drive to date that I have owned
Cons: Looks like the drive was smashed with a fork lift? The side of the drive case was cracked and bent upon delivery. This is the first time I’ve seen this with new egg. To be quite honest I’m shocked.
Pros: High speed, good price
Cons: The drive had this weird, 29 pin connection, so I had to buy a special adapter for it, which ended up not working. Neither the BIOS nor Windows 8.1 recognize the drive, and it didn’t spin or vibrate on start up.
Overall Review: This had a weird connection port on it– a 29-pin cable was required to attach it correctly. After many failed attempts and hours of troubleshooting, it still didn’t work. I bought a new HDD with SATA connections instead, and it worked like a charm.
Pros: Might be heavy enough to work as a doorstop.
Cons: Bought two of these. Both fail to communicate properly with a LSI 9211 HBA. Controller and Solaris can query make, model, serial number but thats it, no access to media. Looks to be a firmware bug.
According to Hitachi RMA webpage the product was shipped by Newegg in non-compliant packaging. One drive was visibly dented.
Overall Review: I thought Hitachi made a quality product until I plugged two of these in. Must pay for packaging and shipping for RMA. Seems to me Hitachi should pay up for producing defects.

Pros: Decent price for a 300 GB 15K SAS, fairly speedy.
Cons: None, does exactly what it’s supposed to do in a server environment.
Overall Review: Ignore the person below! YOU CANNOT CONNECT A SAS DRIVE TO A SATA CONTROLLER!! Don’t give something a negative review because you don’t know what you bought or what you’re doing.
