Pros: Hitachi makes solid drives and this one is no exception. Works in a raid and standalone with no problems. Was well packed and arrived quickly.
Cons: Hitachi does not stand behind this drive–it only has a one-year warranty from the seller. This significantly decreases the value of an “Enterprise” drive for me. The drive is noisy compared to most desktop drives, but nothing unexpected for an Enterprise drive.
Overall Review: It’s an excellent price for an Enterprise drive, but with only a one-year warranty, it’s a bit hard to think of it as Enterprise quality.
Pros: goHardDrive vendor has excellent customer return policies. They’ll pay the return shipping if you get a bad drive delivered. Fantastic delivery time, got it priority mail two days after order. I will most certainly use this vendor again. 5 Stars for the vendor.
The drives themselves are a great deal and my non-scientific testing shows they can pretty much keep up with my WD Black 2TB drive. They run much cooler than the Blacks and some Seagate Constellation drives I also have.
All three drives I ordered passed extensive error scans without issue.
Cons: The drives have a little bit more ambient noise than most and head seeking is audible when operating. The noise level is well below tolerable limits for me. I only mention this for those who have a primary concern about noise levels. Other drives models may be a better choice if silent operation is your goal.
Overall Review: Hard drives generally seem overall less reliable these days so I’ve taken to testing drives thoroughly when they arrive if possible. Vendors not having good return policies for DOA also seems inappropriate but somewhat understandable. goHardDrive has both the excellent return policies I was looking for and a great deal on these drives as well.
Pros: reliability – that 2 million hours MTBF was a selling point. (These drives should outlast you and me both – that’s about 228 years!) I ordered 4 for a RAID/NAS box I was building – all 4 worked first time, every time. They are running quiet and cool.
Cons: None so far… if they only last 128 years, instead of 228, I will be back to revise/update this review!

Um… the labels are just plain white, instead of black, blue, red, green… like another big player in the disk market.

Overall Review: The ones I ordered were from a 3rd-party seller – goHardDrive – who responded quickly to a question pre-purchase, and delivered them in a timely and professional manner. Very happy with the transaction.
Pros: I love these drives. They are fast, reliable, and reasonably priced.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: It’s too bad that Hitachi sold it’s storage division to Western Digital, which had to sell the consumer side to Toshiba for antitrust reasons. Now the prices seem to be higher and the quality of the consumer drives under Toshiba appears to be worse and the warranty is lower.
Pros: Fast.
Quiet.
Works perfect with TiVo OTA receiver.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: I tried to cancel my order after reading many negative reviews regarding loud clicking noises. But I was too late and the drive had already shipped. Alas, I’m glad the order didn’t cancel, because I’ve been using it for 3 hours now and it’s one of the quietest hard drives I’ve ever owned.
I was also concerned about how well it would perform inside a TiVo Roamio OTA receiver. Many people in TiVo forums suggest much more expensive WD or Seagate drives. No need! Save your money and buy this drive. It’s been flawless so far inside my TiVo box. I should also mention, installation into a TiVo was 100% plug and play.
My last cocncern was regarding reviewers claiming they received old drives with 2013 dates on them. I searched this drive and found two “16” date codes in different locations. Since it’s currently 2017, my drive was only about a year old. That’s fair in my opinion.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with this purchase. The price was great, shipping was fast and the drive functions flawlessly.
Pros: I have just installed the disk and my RAID array is happily recovering onto the new disk. Seems fine so far.
Cons: The failed HGST disk this replaced had “May 2015” printed on its label. This disk that Newegg sent me had “June 2012” printed on its label. It is surprising to me that this seemingly new disk had been sitting on the shelf for more than three years. I checked with the S.M.A.R.T. tools and the disk seemed unused and was seemingly factory sealed, but it a little unnerving to buy a “new” computer product manufactured more than three years ago. I wonder what will happen if it fails and I have to try to replace it under warranty. Will HGST’s tool for determining warranty status consider it three years old at this point?
Pros: 2TB for 90 bucks was a great deal formatted with win 7 with no problems runs great
Cons: none at the moment
Overall Review: dealer sent it out right away had it like 3 or 4 days i beleive would do business with again

Where #1 and 2 were done by me and #3 was there when I received the disk. So it had 15,298 hours on it and some how that value got reset before I got the device. They are apparently refurbished drives.
