Pros: It works.
Cons: What exactly is writing on the disk in this thing? A small elf with a chisel? It is the loudest thing in my pc and if I wasn’t wearing headphones I would probably RMA it.
Pros: Cheap!
1TB.
Shipping was fairly quick!
Cons: The first one was DoA, kinda. Plugged it in and went to format, started strange beeping and clicking noises then DEAD! But goHardDrive customer service was awesomes and sent a new. Its working great so far!
Overall Review: First thought was take on “egg” off. But I deal with companies all the time and these doods are crazy nice and issue was resolved super fast.
Pros: So far its functioned as expected. I can’t say I have noticed anything specific either way other than the noise it makes.
Cons: I replaced this in a 2005 imac which was aggravatingly tricky to start with. This drive is the loudest I have ever experienced, clicking away at the slightest command. I don’t know if I can be bothered to open the whole thing up again to replace it until I can no longer stand it.
Overall Review: Other than the noise, it was a very good price for a drive and I guess you get what you pay for.
Pros: good price, no spills or thrills.
Cons: none to note a bare bones HD.
Pros: It was cheap, came well packaged, it is fast and works well.
Cons: It is really loud. I’ve never had such a loud drive before. it makes that buzzing noise anytime its being used
Pros: Dependable, good capacity, inexpensive!
Cons: None
Overall Review: I was apprehensive about buying new hard drives, but I ended up purchasing two at the same time. I was salvaging an old PC but found the hard drive was failing and locking up every 10 seconds (I pulled it out of a computer that still used IDE, whew) so needed a new one. Happy to report both are humming happily away without issue. One is used as secondary storage on one PC and the other is just a big ol’ drive on another PC hooked to my TV. You’ll see reviews all over the place about failures of HDDs but honestly, it is going to be hit or miss with any brand. Anything is subject to failure. Be smart and backup your irreplaceable data. Not to mention, the price on these is pretty darn good.
Pros: Drive is 1TB, works, Hitachi.
Cons: My only con with this drive is the read head is relatively loud when being accessed. Not loud enough to hear it in the other room, but you will hear it if you are in the same room (and it’s quiet of course).
Overall Review: Bought this drive to replace a WD Green that was running nearly 24/7 for a few years as a DIY NAS/DVR running Ubuntu and MythTV software.

Pros: Hard drive is what I needed to match the drives in my RAID array. The shipping was quick, I received the drive within a couple of days. The original drive was DOA, sadly, but that’s where the ‘PRO’ comes in. I emailed the customer support for goHardDrive, the company who was directly shipping the drive, and I got a response very quick. Mike T. was very helpful and my contact throughout the whole process. I was given an RMA without any hassle (I had already explained all the trouble shooting steps I had taken), and dropped the drive in the mail the next day. Within a few days I contacted goHardDrive to ensure they had received the drive, which they did and had already put my replacement in the mail. I received my replacement drive in the mail on a Saturday even! I put the drive in and started the rebuild of my RAID array (which was further than I made it with the DOA drive). I sent an email to Mike T. just to let him know, expecting a response Monday. Mike and I exchanged a few emails over the weekend, he was staying in communication to ensure I had no issues with the drive. When having any sort of issues, especially with hard drives, it’s great to know the company behind sending the drive does all they can to take care of the customer in the end!
Cons: I mean yeah the Hard Drive came DOA – But being the consumer I am and all the tech I buy, I know it does happen. See PROs comment related to the issue.
Overall Review: Let’s face it, it’s a brand hard drive and I recently purchased it. But when it comes to hard drives it’s all about the customer experience with the company you’re dealing with. That’s why I am posting this review.
