Pros: 16MB cache
Quiet
Cons: ?
Overall Review: I used this guy to replace a dead 5GB travelstar from an Acer 332T and it definitly works. I don’t now about speed since I inherited the laptop dead, but I bet it’s faster than the stock 512KB, 4400RPM. I have not had any overheating issues.
Pros: Near silent, fast as heck, very resonable price. The 16MB of cache is a great alternative to 7200RPM and it’s higher heat output. I’ve installed two now, no probs, great way to breathe life into that old PII or PIII or P4 laptop.
Cons: None, nada…..
Overall Review: Don’t know what the posters have experienced that are noting HDD noise from this model. I’d suspect they have defective units and should be replaced. All of mine have been near silent.
Comments: This drive runs great, very speedy, love that 16mb cache. Think i saw a few people say its loud… dont know what thats about, its very quiet, hasnt made any unusual noises, But i suppose it could sound different depending on what company build your laptop… ya never know, but as i said, runs great on my Dell Inspiron 8200. And as always, cant forget to say this.. Newegg Is the Greatest! Drive came one day early!
Comments: It’s a hard-drive; well, a harddrive is a harddrive. I disagree with the comment about it being quiet…the bubbling noise drives me nuts! My previous Hitachi is quiet, even during search. Nevertheless, it is what it is: of course, it should install easily, fit into your bay, and store data. Overall, right price for harddrive. Now, only hope it will last for more than a few years.
Pros: Fast and easy installation.
Cons: The drive makes high pitched noise, even when it is idle. The high pitched sound may be tolerate if you only use the computer in a short period time. But it is squeaky enough to make you uncomfortable and loosing concentration, if you have to work for a long period of time.
Overall Review: As a Toshiba tech told me that the noise may be caused by the defection of that particular drive. I am RMA this drive, and will see the replacement.
Pros: Fast, Quiet, Cooler at 45C, Reliable, Newegg on Time
Cons: Price was okay, could be a little more faster rpm, run more cooler
Overall Review: A upgrade and a replacement for my seagate 5400rpm 2mb which die in a yr off usually on my Dell 600m. With the 16mb it ran much smoother and so far no problem. 5C cooler than my previous seagate
Pros: 16MB Cache, Quite, Fast. Notoriously reliable drive manufacturer and they’ve nailed it again with this one. Have no fears ordering this drive.
Cons: None yet.

Pros: easy install, compatible with my toshiba m35
Cons: noisy
not noticeablly faster than 4200rpm 8mb
Overall Review: installed it easy. the oem harddrive in my toshiba m35 was an hitachi 40gb 4200rpm.
this new one is not noticeably faster. i noticed a few seconds off the start of the computer but in normal processes(for me internet, aim, windows media, bt client, etc) there was no boost in any performance. if any it was insignificant.
not worth the price in upgrade, especially at price of the noise. it’s not noisy in a leaf blower fan way. if you are playing a movie or a music you wouldnt even hear it but if you are just using it with no audio playing in a quiet room it is quite noisy, noisier than the cheapo oem harddrive that was included originally.
Pros: 16MB cache
Quiet
