Comments: I’ve had this drive for almost a year now in a xxxxxxxx notebook. Speeds are definitely better than the 4200 rpm drive it came with but it is also much louder and hotter. Now my system fan is always on because of the heat. Also, the drive makes occasional clicking noises for no reason when it is idle. No failures or crashes though.
Comments: I ordered on a Monday and had the drive on Wednesday. Nice service!!
The drive installed and was quiet. I installed XP on the drive and everything was fine until I came back the next day and it had crashed and was making clicking noises. Newegg promptly refunded my money because they were out of stock. I have had other Travelstars with no problems. I’m reluctant to go with one again.
Comments: Great upgrade for your laptop. I replaced my 40Gig Toshiba 4200rpm with the 5K80. Best thing I could have done for my laptop. Thanks newegg!

Comments: ok, as usual newegg delivered earlier than the scheduled delivery date so well done there. Now the drive is comparatively cooler than my old 40GB hitachi dive. I was first looking at the samsung 80Gb drive but found that this drive runs colder than the samsung. I have noticed that it is a bit faster than the older one too, Windows XP setup was also faster. Havent had any problems. It was easy to install in my DELL 600m. All in all a great purchase.
