Pros: So far so good. Drive is just as quiet as, and a bit faster than the stock 60GB drive that came in my white MacBook 2GHz. Markedly faster when transferring large amounts of data to/from an external firewire drive.
Cons: None so far. But hey, it’s a hard drive. Even the best can go belly-up without much warning.
Overall Review: Be sure to use the right type of Torx screwdriver head when dealing with the MacBook’s harddrive mounting plate. You don’t want to strip those.
Pros: Ordering my 2nd one of these today. First one was an increadable drive. Fast, cool and quiet. This drive performs about as good as my 100gig 7200rpm drive.
Cons: none
Overall Review: Samsung’s quality seems unbeatable these days.
Pros: None
Cons: Poor reliability
Overall Review: Installed this into a Dell Inspiron 6400 in December 2006. After about 5 months, I got serious data corruption on the drive. Spinrite wouldn’t even attempt to fix it. Fortunately I was eventually able to get my data off the drive and didn’t lose everything. I’ll never consider a Samsung HDD ever again.

Pros: Cheap, installed flawlessly in my macbook
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: Installed this in my 2Ghz, black macbook (1st gen) as a replacement for the stock 80GB drive. The new drive is fast, very quiet and worked without any issues. Installation was simple, just remove the metal cover from the RAM / HDD slots, pull out the old drive, remove the 4 screws from the drive frame, mount the new drive in the frame, slide it in place, replace the cover. Done. Either get an external enclosure (about $20 here on newegg) for your old drive or use a different external drive and the software “super duper” to make a backup of your HDD before replacing it. Good luck!
