Pros: Everything I could possibly think of as of right now just went into my PS3. The upgrade from the standard hdd 5400rpm’s to 7200 actually does speed up load times I’ve tested it side by side with a friends PS3. It’s all I could ask for.
Cons: none so far
Overall Review: I wish it had a 32mb cache but I guess you can’t have everything.
Pros: If you are buying this to replace a smaller drive via cloning listen up. This is an advanced format drive. After cloning Win7-64, you may find you can no longer run windows update, search indexing stops, etc. This is a known issue. You must do 2 things to fix the issue:
Cons: 1) Install Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver from Intel’s website
2) Then, download and install the Microsoft Hotfix Article ID: 982018, ” An update that improves the compatibility of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 with Advanced Format Disks is available”
Overall Review: Once you do these 2 things, system operation will return to normal. I think many laptop manufacturers don’t bother installing Intel RRT b/c it’s not necessary on drives under 700gb.
Pros: Work perfect in my ps3 slim, lot of space.
Cons: none
Pros: Fast quiet drive. Purchased on sale for $99.
Cons: After 8 months BIOS couldn’t find the OS so laptop would not boot. Removed the drive and attached it externally to run scandisk but it would not complete the scan. Luckily data was in tact but drive not bootable.
Overall Review: Too bad. Good fast drive up to the point it failed.
Pros: Great drive, fast, quite, and huge capacity for a laptop (coming from a 320GB). Perfect for all my photos.
Cons: Packaging is terrible. Came in a cardboard box with no padding, just an anti static bag. It rattled around during shipping because the box was much larger than the drive. DisckCheck is now showing a few failures that could lead to spindle failures or disk startup issues. I am RMAing to see if I have better luck with the next one, but if not I’ll be purchasing from somewhere else to see if they know how to ship a hard drive…
Overall Review: I came from a 7200rpm drive, so power consumption is not increased for me.
Pros: seamless install for a PS3 upgrade, went from 40 gig to 750 gig in about 45 minutes including moving the data to the new drive
Cons: none
Pros: I was surprised when I fired up my MBP and saw that I now had 751G of storage, usually I get a decent amount below advertised space. Works great, not much to say.
Cons: none yet.

Pros: Thin enough for most laptop installs with no issues. 7200RPM speed is a plus with a nice 16MB cache. Uses less wattage than the drive it replaces so battery life should be better. Boot time is greatly reduced. The only thing faster is an SSD.
Cons: A little noisier than the drive it replaced, but not as noisey has some of the 7200RPM laptop drives I’ve had.
Overall Review: Had to get this in a hurry for a drive that was dying in my daughter’s Acer laptop. Got the old drive cloned onto this drive and put in and it’s almost a new laptop. Much faster boot times, much faster searches, but a little noisier. I will keep a close eye on it for issues using SeaTools. At least if it has a problem, I know Seagate has a good warranty program.
