Pros: Despite the fact that neither the Crucial website nor the NewEgg website seem to confirm this memory is compatible with the Dell Inspiron 8600, I have found that it works perfectly. Through my research, this memory should be compatible for the following:
Dell Inspiron 1200, 2200, 510m, 5150, 5160, 600m, 700m, 710m, 8500, 8600, 8600c, & 9200;
Dell Latitude 100L, 110L, D400, D505, D600/D800, X300; &
Dell Precision Workstation M60 Notebook.
Cons: None that I am aware of so far.
Pros: Just got this for my Dell Inspiron 8600…Easy to install…Worked the first time I turned on the laptop…Inpiron 8600 does not have to have memory paired..So in one slot I have the original 256 mb stick and in the other slot I have the new 1 gb stick…It makes a huge difference!!!! Computer is so much faster!!!!!! Able to perform more than one task at very fast speeds..
Cons: None
Overall Review: Highly recommend, and the price was better than any place I found on the internet, especially for Crucial memory…
Pros: Excellent memory, error free for 2+ months of intense use.
Cons: I only have one of these sticks 🙁
Overall Review: I keep reading all about people who buy these sticks and complain about little to no system improvement. Here’s what to do: REDUCE YOUR PAGEFILE.
Most laptops today come with 256 or 512 MB memory. This is not enough. Know how your computer compensates? It uses your HDD as memory, which is orders of magnitude slower than physical RAM. With 1+ GB RAM, most users can set their pagefile to a much smaller size, forcing the computer to use physical RAM. Generally, most users can set their Pagefile to a minimum, say, 2-1024 MB. Doing this will dramatically increase your system’s performance when you have a large amount of RAM.
Happy computing.
Pros: Recently my HP notebook died a sudden death, and I resurrected my old IBM Thinkpad R50 running Windows XP-Pro with only 512MB Ram. The sluggishness and freeze-ups when more than a few windows were open was making me want to start drinking again… But after upgrading it from 512MB to 1.25GB with this 1GB ram module (which went flawlessly)… Now my resurrected Thinkpad is zippy and fast!! No more annoying freezing up or reading War & Peace waiting for things to load.
Perfect ram at a cheap price (was only $38.99 thanks to a NewEgg discount deal!! 🙂
Cons: Not really a con… Just be advised to have a pair of scissors handy when attempting to open Crucial’s plastic “adult-proof” packaging 😉
Overall Review: Entire order got here in only 2 days. My NewEgg order status showed SHIPPED within 15-minutes after placing the order — and that was for standard 3-day shipping WITHOUT paying for expedited processing or anything! Thank you NewEgg!!
Pros: My Averatec 6200 series instantly recognized the new memory. gives new life to an old laptop.Installation took less than 5 min.
Cons: Packaging is too secure. Need a good knife or scissors to open.
Overall Review: I hope I don’t have to RMA, cause I damaged the packaging.
Pros: I have a Dell Inspiron 1200 LT and this ram really makes a difference. Easy to install and system recognized it on the boot up. It was very slow booting up, mutiple programs, internet etc. I use Crucial in my Dell tower and have always had good performance.
Cons: None
Pros: Popped 2 x 1GB sticks in my HP ZV5000 and it works perfect. Does the job and now it can handle Adobe Lightroom. Alt-tabbing is now a breeze, and running out of memory is difficult task.
Cons: none whatsoever
Overall Review: HP Laptops built around the same year as mine all claim 1280MB max memory but its false. HP doesn’t support upgrading the memory slot under the keyboard, so if you’re not worried and your warranty is already expired go for it. I’m at 2GB now, and I’m pretty sure the system can support 4GB.

Comments: Wanted to up th RAM in my HP zv6130us. The crucial Memory Advisor recommended CT476728. Newegg had this module (CT12864X335) for substantially less money and the specs for both are the same. I called Crucial tech support and learned that this module is the exact same module as the CT476728 and guaranteed to work in my laptop.
Confirmed by email.
Typical fast delivery from Newegg, quick install and memory works great. If you are looking at the
CT476728, order this instead and save some money.
